Aims: Assess IBD patients starting anti-TNF for the impact of preventive measures in HBV and/or HCV, and the predictive response factors to HBV vaccination.

Methods: Multicenter prospective study including 389 IBD patients. Four interventions were established: I-1) anti-HBs <100IU/L: HBV vaccination with double doses at 0-1-2months, and revaccination if titres <100IU/L (seroprotection defined as anti-HBs10-100IU/L and effective vaccination anti-HBs >100IU/L); I-2) anti-HBs >100IU/L (previous effective vaccination): monitoring levels; I-3) anti-HBc and/or HCV+: analysis every two months; I-4) HBsAg+: start anti-virals.

Objective: The bioaccessibility of bioactives from pistachios has not been previously evaluated. In the present study we quantified the release of polyphenols, xanthophylls (lutein), and tocopherols from pistachios (raw pistachios, roasted salted pistachios, and muffins made with raw pistachios) during simulated human digestion.

Methods: A dynamic gastric model of digestion that provides a realistic and predictive simulation of the physical and chemical processing and accurately mimics the residence time and the luminal environment within the human stomach was used for the digestion studies.

In this work the enantiomeric distribution of chiral coumarins (meranzin and epoxyaurapten), and furocoumarins (oxypeucedanin, byakangelicol, and epoxybergamottin) in different Citrus essential oils (lemon, lime, grapefruit, and bitter orange) was determined by means of a heart-cutting multidimensional-liquid chromatography (MD-LC) system, equipped with a microsilica column in the first dimension in a combination to a cellulosic-based chiral column used in the second dimension. The normal phase-liquid chromatography-liquid chromatography (NP-LC-LC) instrumentation was equipped with a photodiode array detector and a multiport valve as interface. For method optimization and the determination of absolute configuration, natural compounds were isolated and racemic mixture was synthesized.

Objective: To investigate a new method of quantification of the diastolic notch of the flow velocity waveforms of uterine arteries in the prediction of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Methods: Pulsed-wave Doppler was used to obtain flow velocity waveforms (FVWs) from the uterine arteries at 21-22 weeks of gestation from 531 nulliparous women and 94 multiparous women at high risk. From the FVWs, both the pulsatility index (PI) and the notch index (NI) were calculated and the predictive values for both indices were compared using logistic regression analysis for mild and severe early onset hypertensive pregnancy complications.
