Aim: To investigate the correlation between T-cell senescence with the atherosclerosis markers in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: The study participants were 40 female SLE patients aged 18-45 years who met the 2019 EULAR/ACR criteria and 40 healthy individuals. The atherosclerosis markers were investigated using the Doppler ultrasonography examinations to measure the cIMT (carotid intima-media thickness) and flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and serological markers using soluble ICAM-1 and VCAM-1.

Cisplatin is the first choice treatment in mediastinal germ cell tumors. However, concerns regarding increased toxicity of cisplatin hamper its administration in patients with impaired renal function. We describe a 42-year-old man with chronic kidney disease stage 4 who was diagnosed with a mediastinal germ cell tumor and metastases in lung and brain.

Background: Ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) can induce hypophosphataemia in the general population and patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Less is known about the effect of FCM in the kidney transplant population. It has been suggested that fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF-23)-mediated renal phosphate wasting may be the most likely cause of this phenomenon.

Multi-signal Visualization of Physiology (MVP): a novel visualization dashboard for physiological monitoring of Traumatic Brain Injury patients.

To prevent Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) patients from secondary brain injuries, patients' physiological readings are continuously monitored. However, the visualization dashboards of most existing monitoring devices cannot effectively present all physiological information of TBI patients and are also ineffective in facilitating neuro-clinicians for fast and accurate diagnosis. To address these shortcomings, we proposed a new visualization dashboard, namely the Multi-signal Visualization of Physiology (MVP).

Background:   The concept of nursing power has not been extensively reported in the nursing literature. Power is an extremely abstract concept, making it difficult to define and study. However, when defined as the capacity to achieve goals, power becomes a significant resource in nursing.

This study aimed to know how nursing professors perceive the interface between health and environment. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach developed with six nursing professors from different areas in the process of training nurses. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews in 2010 and underwent a process of content analysis.

A randomized trial of training the non-dominant upper extremity to enhance laparoscopic performance.

Introduction: In laparoscopy, the surgeon's dominant arm will execute difficult tasks with less effort compared to the non-dominant arm. This leads to a relative overuse of muscles on this side. We hypothesized that training the non-dominant arm would improve laparoscopic skills.

The operation room as a hostile environment for surgeons: physical complaints during and after laparoscopy.

Due to suboptimal ergonomic conditions during laparoscopic procedures, surgeons are exposed to physical strain on the upper extremity. The primary objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of physical complaints among laparoscopic surgeons and to assess the factors that influence these complaints. A questionnaire was distributed in a university hospital to all surgeons who perform laparoscopic procedures.
