The study synthesized Pluronic F-127 coated zinc oxide nanoparticles (PF-127ZnO NPs) using leaf extract and evaluated their antibacterial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties using various characterization methods such as UV-Vis, Fourier Transform Infra-Red, Photoluminescence spectroscopy, FESEM, EDAX, TEM, SAED, XRD, and DLS. The disc diffusion technique was used to evaluate the antibacterial properties of synthesized Pluronic F-127 coated zinc oxide nanoparticles against various pathogens and significant anticancer activity was noticed. The study examined the cytotoxicity of PF127ZnO nanoparticles to Hep3B cells .

A series of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy benzaldehyde (vanillin) derivatives () was designed for the principle of Schiff base condensation with several individual sulfanilamide analogues. The inhibitory potencies of the designed compounds were evaluated through molecular docking simulation studies against the targets, breast cancer-topo isomerase-IIα and estrogen receptor-α; and the top scoring poses with higher binding energy were selected to assess the mode of binding and stability of each complex through molecular dynamics simulations. Compounds that remained stable in the active sites of the both target receptors through a number of strong H-bonds and hydrophobic contacts were selected.

Pierisin-5 is a DNA dependent ADP ribosyltransferase (ADRT) protein from the larvae of Indian cabbage white butterfly, Interestingly, Pierisin-5 ADP-ribosylates the DNA as a substrate, but not the protein and subsequently persuades apoptotic cell death in human cancer cells. This has led to the investigation on the DNA binding activity of Pierisin-5 using and approaches in the present study. However, both the structure and the mechanism of ADP-ribosylation of pierisin-5 are unknown.

Pierisin-5 protein (pie-5) belongs to a family of proteins possessing DNA-dependent ADP-ribosyltransferase activity, which can induce apoptotic cell death. Plants have been used since ancient times as an important source of biologically active substances. The aim of the present study was to investigate the phytochemical constituents (flavonoids and phenolics), antioxidant potential, cytotoxicity against HepG2 (human hepato carcinoma) cancer cell lines, and the antimicrobial activity of the methanol extract of selected traditional medicinal plants collected from Mizoram, India. A number of phenolic compounds were detected using HPLC-DAD-ESI-TOF-MS, mainly Luteolin, Kaempferol, Myricetin, Gallic Acid, Quercetin and Rutin, some of which have been described for the first time in the selected plants.

In this study, caspase-dependent apoptosis-inducing pierisin-5 gene was identified and characterized from cabbage white butterfly, Pieris canidia. A thousand-fold increase in expression of pierisin-5 gene was observed from second to third instar larvae, gradually decreasing before pupation. Pierisin-5 was purified from the fifth-instar larvae and was found to exhibit cytotoxicity against HeLa and HepG2 human cancer cell lines.
