OPTY-LINE remote-controlled adjustable intramedullary device implantation in open-wedge high tibial osteotomy: A prospective proof-of-concept pilot and comparison with Tomofix fixed-plate device method.

Purpose: The objective was to evaluate the clinical and patient-related short- to medium-term performance of the OPTY-LINE nail device for high tibial osteotomy (HTO), comparing a case series of the said device to the established Tomofix fixed-plate device.

Patients And Methods: Males with symptomatic medial compartmental osteoarthritis and no serious (co-morbid) knee pathology were followed up, five Tomofix and six OPTY-LINE patients. Patients underwent computed tomography assessment and completed Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome score (KOOS) and osteotomy surgery patient satisfaction questionnaires, 3 and 6 months post-surgery.

Optimal selection of mother wavelet for accurate infant cry classification.

Wavelet theory is emerging as one of the prevalent tool in signal and image processing applications. However, the most suitable mother wavelet for these applications is still a relative question mark amongst researchers. Selection of best mother wavelet through parameterization leads to better findings for the analysis in comparison to random selection.

Percutaneous autologous bone marrow injections for delayed or non-union of bones.

Purpose: To evaluate 12 patients with delayed or nonunion of bones treated with bone marrow injections.

Methods: 6 men and 6 women aged 15 to 70 (mean, 45) years underwent bone marrow injections for delayed union (n=2) or atrophic non-union (n=10) of the ulna (n=6), femur (n=3), humerus (n=2), or metacarpal (n=1). Bone marrow was aspirated from the anterior iliac crest and injected to the delayed and non-union sites.
