Objectives: The objective of this study was to develop and test a patient decision aid for end-of-life care to be used when some or all life-sustaining treatments have been withheld or withdrawn.
Methods: A multi-professional, multi-sectorial group together with patients and relatives used a systematic process to develop and test the patient decision aid, including alpha and beta testing.
Results: Healthcare professionals, patients and relatives were involved in the development and testing.
Objective: To assess the accuracy of CT spectral HU curve assessment of hypodense liver lesions.
Methods: In this retrospective HIPAA-compliant study (January 2016 through May 2023), patients with biopsy-proven pancreatic adenocarcinoma and a biopsied indeterminate liver lesion underwent a DECT abdominal CT scan. Spectral HU curves were provided for each hypodense liver lesion, and slopes were calculated.

Purpose: To characterize associations of microcalcifications (calcs) with benign breast disease lesion subtypes and assess whether tissue calcs affect risks of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and invasive breast cancer (IBC).
Methods: We analyzed detailed histopathologic data for 4,819 BBD biopsies from a single institution cohort (2002-2013) followed for DCIS or IBC for a median of 7.4 years for cases (N = 338) and 11.
Background: Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide (PACAP) is a neuropeptide pivotal in migraine pathophysiology and is considered a promising new migraine drug target. Although intravenous PACAP triggers migraine attacks and a recent phase II trial with a PACAP-inhibiting antibody showed efficacy in migraine prevention, targeting the PACAP receptor PAC1 alone has been unsuccessful. The present study investigated the role of three PACAP receptors (PAC1, VPAC1 and VPAC2) in inducing migraine-relevant hypersensitivity in mice.

In addition to cellular therapy physicians, the initiative includes program administrators, health policy and health equity experts, health service researchers, participants from commercial payer organizations, and federal stakeholders. The inaugural ASTCT-NMDP ACCESS Workshop was held in Washington, DC on July 28 and 29, 2022, wherein committee members met to discuss and to define goals for 3 focus areas: awareness, poverty, and racial and ethnic inequity.

Here we demonstrate that stimulation of rat insulinoma cells or primary rat islets with glucose or glutamine + 2-aminobicyclo-(2,2,1)-heptane-2-carboxylic acid (Gln + BCH) induces reductive, "counter-clockwise" tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle flux of glutamine to citrate. Molecular or pharmacologic suppression of isocitrate dehydrogenase-2 (IDH2), which catalyzes reductive carboxylation of 2-ketoglutarate to isocitrate, results in impairment of glucose- and Gln + BCH-stimulated reductive TCA cycle flux, lowering of NADPH levels, and inhibition of insulin secretion.

The efficacy of PD-1 blockade as compared with chemotherapy as first-line therapy for MSI-H-dMMR advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer is unknown.
Methods: In this phase 3, open-label trial, 307 patients with metastatic MSI-H-dMMR colorectal cancer who had not previously received treatment were randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to receive pembrolizumab at a dose of 200 mg every 3 weeks or chemotherapy (5-fluorouracil-based therapy with or without bevacizumab or cetuximab) every 2 weeks.
The selective and sensitive analysis of mycotoxins in highly complex feed matrices is a great challenge. In this study, the suitability of Orbitrap-based high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) for routine mycotoxin analysis in complex feeds was demonstrated by the successful validation of a full MS/data-dependent MS/MS acquisition method for the quantitative determination of eight mycotoxins in forage maize and maize silage according to the Commission Decision 2002/657/EC. The required resolving power for accurate mass assignments (<5 ppm) was determined as 35,000 full width at half maximum (FWHM) and 70,000 FWHM for forage maize and maize silage, respectively.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included 10 patients who had been diagnosed with recurrent glioblastoma and scheduled to receive bevacizumab treatment. Diffusional kurtosis images were obtained from all the patients 0-7 days before (pre-bevacizumab) and 28 days after (post-bevacizumab) initiating bevacizumab treatment.
Distinct mechanisms involving cell shape and mechanical force are known to influence the rate and orientation of division in cultured cells. However, uncoupling the impact of shape and force in tissues remains challenging. Combining stretching of Xenopus tissue with mathematical methods of inferring relative mechanical stress, we find separate roles for cell shape and mechanical stress in orienting and cueing division.
