This work reports the data obtained by the multidisciplinary cruise CORE-VTRCC surveying on the region around the Vitória-Trindade Ridge (VTR) aboard the vessel NHo Cruzeiro do Sul (October 18 to November 6, 2021). The main objectives of the VTRCC Cruise were (1) to assess the role of the VTR as an oceanographic barrier for bottom currents along the Brazilian margin; and (2) to characterize the morphology of the volcanic seamounts and its relationships with the carbonate sediments that cover it. For that, we performed multibeam bathymetry, magnetometry, high-resolution multichannel seismic survey, subbottom profiling survey, and seafloor sampling along the VTR and along the Columbia Deepwater Channel.

We aimed to evaluate the effects of different drying methods for banana residues on the energy metabolism and respirometry of growing lambs. Twenty Santa Inês x Dorper lambs were fed five experimental diets: Tifton 85 grass hay (Control), shade-dried banana leaf hay (LH Shade), shade-dried pseudostem banana hay (PH Shade), sun-dried banana leaf hay (LH Sun), and sun-dried banana pseudostem hay (PH Sun). To address the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and to search for assistive learning tools for the subject of Animal Anatomy II and Applied Anatomy, 123 anatomical kits were prepared at the Animal Anatomy Laboratory for students of the Veterinary Medicine course at the University of São Paulo, Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering (FZEA/USP) in Pirassununga city, São Paulo, Brazil. The kits contained anatomical pieces for teaching splanchnology and topographic anatomy (two different classes), and they were elaborated based on effective preservation techniques for the preparation of animal anatomical pieces. At the end of each course, we sent an online questionnaire to the students for evaluation of the methodology used.

Isolation and characterization of neural stem cells from fetal canine spinal cord.

Neurogenesis in adult mammals occurs mainly in the subventricular and subgranular areas of the brain, but there are also reports of its occurrence in the spinal cord. In a study on rats, neural stem cells and neuroprogenitor cells could be obtained through primary spinal cord culture, but there are no studies on these cells in canine species, to date. Dogs represent an appropriate animal model for studies on neurogenesis and neurological disorders.

Introduction: Among the insulin resistance syndromes that lead to diabetes mellitus in young people, Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome (RMS; OMIM # 262190) is an autosomal recessive inherited disease caused by an insulin receptor mutation (INSR; 147,670).
