However, very few studies have evaluated the use of social media to support continuing professional development activities. The goal of the 2023 Clinical Education Alliance social media survey was to explore how HCPs interact professionally with social media, describe utilization trends, and identify barriers to using social media to disseminate CPD content.

Use of continuing professional development (CPD) can relay practical application of strategies to mitigate healthcare disparities. However, there is limited data on the impact of disparities focused CPD.

Methods: This was a single-system, retrospective cohort study of hospitalized adult patients with IVC thrombus treated with a DOAC or warfarin therapy. The primary efficacy endpoint was the thrombus resolution on imaging, and the primary safety endpoint was major bleeding, both assessed within 6 months of hospital discharge.
In data analyses, pairing participant responses is often thought to yield the purest results. However, ensuring all participants answer all questions can be challenging. Concerns exist that pooling all responses together may diminish the robustness of a statistical analysis, but the practical insights may still exist.

These programs are vital to helping students expand their clinical knowledge, while also benefiting the host institution. Our objective was to characterize the value of a longitudinal internship program to both the institution and its interns.

Evidence examining the adherence rate to these guideline recommendations is limited. This study aimed to determine the adherence rate to guideline-directed therapy for patients with cirrhosis hospitalized with SBP.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DOACs in patients with a diagnosis of laboratory-confirmed HIT.
Methods: A multicenter retrospective cohort study of adult patients with HIT treated with apixaban, rivaroxaban, or dabigatran between 1 January 2013 and 1 January 2020 was performed.
To assess factors impacting metacognition during the advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) year (final year of the Doctor of Pharmacy program) for student pharmacists at five different institutions. Student pharmacists completed a pre- and post-APPE year survey that collected data on demographics, curricular and co-curricular experiences, and the 19-item modified metacognition assessment inventory (MAI). Additionally, the post-APPE survey collected data on learning activities completed during the APPE year.

Clinical debates have gained traction as an engaging alternative to journal club meetings while completing advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs). The purpose of this study was to compare clinical knowledge and literature evaluation application between journal clubs and clinical debates during APPEs.

These health-systems often afford students the opportunity to complete multiple rotations within a single organization, offering decreased onboarding time and more longitudinal experiences.
Innovation: Two autonomous partnerships were developed with independent healthcare systems for concentrated learning experiences during the advanced pharmacy practice experiences year.
Introduction: The purpose of this study is to examine student perceptions of accomplishment among 6 subdomains of Center for Advancement of Pharmacy Education (CAPE) Domain 3 "Approach to Practice and Care" outcomes in Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) across distinct geographical regions.
Methods: An 18-item electronic survey was distributed to 88 student pharmacists at a private university completing APPEs in 5 distinct regions and 2 concentrated learning experiences during their penultimate rotation. The survey assessed whether students had at least 1 opportunity to achieve Domain 3 outcomes.
To evaluate major bleeding in cirrhosis with use of traditional anticoagulation or direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), using a standardized definition. Anticoagulation in patients with cirrhosis is often a clinical conundrum for providers as the necessary balance between thrombotic and bleeding risk is complicated by end organ damage. Recent meta-analyses have sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with liver disease.

Background And Purpose: Alignment of pharmacy student and resident experiences provides a unique opportunity for near-peer mentorship. The purpose of this pilot study was to assess pharmacy resident mentorship and feedback skills through participation in a longitudinal pharmacy student and resident seminar series.
Educational Activity And Setting: A longitudinal, near-peer mentorship experience was developed in which first- and second-year pharmacy residents mentored advanced pharmacy practice experience student seminar presentations.
Introduction: With the influx of Generation Z (Gen Z) students into pharmacy schools, there are new opportunities for pharmacy educators to develop its greatest asset. Assessing student characteristics is vital in creating pedagogical approaches in education.
Commentary: The incoming pharmacy students, Gen Z, are independent and desire active engagement with incorporation of technology in the classroom.
To explore whether metacognition can be improved in Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students through routine self-assessment over a year-long advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) sequence. Differences between self-assessment scores and preceptors' scores for three cohorts of pharmacy students between 2015 and 2018 were compared between the first, second, and third trimester to determine whether students more accurately evaluated their performance over time. The primary endpoint was change in the absolute difference between student and preceptor evaluation (rubric and composite scores) between trimesters.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate practice patterns and clinical outcomes of patients admitted with an index GIB while receiving DOAC therapy.

Anticoagulation management in patients with cirrhosis presents several challenges as a result of alterations in hemostasis. Historically vitamin k antagonists and low molecular weight heparins have been the agents of choice in this patient population. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) may provide an alternative to traditional anticoagulant therapy.

Studies comparing the safety of parenteral anticoagulants in this population are lacking. This study evaluated the safety of therapeutic unfractionated heparin versus low molecular weight heparin in patients with cirrhosis.

Introduction: Grit, a "perseverance and passion for long-term goals," is an important characteristic that has been linked to success in academics and career endeavors. In pharmacy education, there have been mixed results on grit as a predictor of academic performance in pharmacy students. Furthermore, there have been no studies on the implications of grit in pharmacy faculty.

Statement Of Innovation: In 2015, Wake Forest Baptist Health (WFBH) created a resident-led residency preparatory series (RPS) to assist advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) students in preparing for residency applications. This study sought to evaluate the perceived value of the resident-led RPS by fourth year APPE students.

To date, small trials have supported the use of specific classes of antibiotics, primarily fluoroquinolones (FQs), in the treatment of Gram-negative bloodstream infections (GNBSIs). Currently, limited data exist evaluating treatment with β-lactams (BLs) or trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (SXT).
