Background: Depression is the most common psychiatric disorder in older adults, even though it is commonly misdiagnosed and undertreated, leading to exacerbations of preexisting medical conditions and even a higher mortality rate. In the present systematic review with meta-analysis, we quantify the magnitude of depression and its associated risk factors among the older adult population in Egypt.
Methods: A thorough literature search was performed from 2010 up to October 2023.
Background: Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are persistent organic pollutants classified as endocrine disruptors related to prediabetes and diabetes. Polybrominated biphenyls are similar in structure to PCBs and are used as flame retardants. Due to the increased worldwide prevalence of diabetes, there is increased interest in understanding the role of environmental and occupational pollutants in its development.
