Objective: The alarming increase in vitamin D deficiency (VDD) has been shown to result in compounded risks of major health problems globally. As sickle cell disease (SCD) children are already health compromised, the co-morbidities escalate early in life, demanding an early detection, to minimize the adverse effects. This study determined vitamin D levels in children with SCD without a crisis to check for probable associations with inflammation and infections if any.

Literature reveals two kinds of menstruation-related anginas-cardiac syndrome X (CSX) and catamenial angina. CSX generally occurs in perimenopausal or postmenopausal women; catamenial angina affects females from puberty to menopause with existing/preexisting or predisposed to coronary artery disease. CSX involves recurring anginal-type retrosternal chest pains during exercise or rest with no significant findings on angiogram.

The polyuria and polydipsia state in diabetes insipidus (DI) can be challenging to manage for patients and clinicians with significant impact on the patients' well-being. A review of literature shows that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), thiazide and potassium-sparing diuretics, along with low dietary solute and protein, and high water intake remain the standard medical therapy. Although these therapeutic approaches improve symptoms, the urine-concentrating defect is still considerable, posing a serious risk to patient's life from hypovolemia if high fluid intake is not maintained.
