Community practitioners play a vital role in child health promotion. The first few months in an infant's life can be a very anxious period for parents. Minor issues, such as hydrocele and haemangiomas, can worry parents and reassurance is all that is required.

Of all forms of symptomatic arrhythmia in infants, children and adolescents, SVT is the most common. Its clinical presentation varies with the child's age, and it can be difficult to diagnose in infants and young children.

Clinical update: febrile convulsion in childhood.

Febrile convulsion is common in young children and occurs in 3-4% of children aged under six years of age. This is the most common seizure disorder and it is not epilepsy. It occurs generally with high temperatures and recurs in one third of children during a subsequent febrile illness.
