Background: Telehealth programs exhibit strong potential to improve health measures and quality of life among obese and overweight individuals for whom medical nutritional therapy remains a challenge due to poor adherence and dietary compliance. Supporting weight-management programs with dietary interventions or "telenutrition" and integrating telemonitoring and/or telehealth coaching have had a significant positive impact on weight-loss patients achieving their goals in long-term interventions.
Methods: The aim of the current study was to identify the factors leading patients to drop out of a telenutrition weight-loss program, including weekly telemonitoring (total of 36 weeks) and monthly telehealth coaching (total of 6 months).
Background: Polyphenols found in food is a potential modifiable factor in disease prevention, especially when it comes to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). This study aimed to determine the total polyphenol intake from fruits and vegetables (FV) in patients at King of Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and its association with vascular risk biomarkers.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was done on 151 adult patients with at least one CVD risk factor.
Age is no longer the most important differentiating feature between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as obesity and metabolic syndrome are on the rise in the pediatric population. Here we present a case of a 30-year-old male individual initially diagnosed with uncontrolled type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) since the age of 15, and treatment with high insulin doses has been unsuccessful. He was later identified as having abdominal obesity-metabolic syndrome 3 (AOMS3) based on strong family history and the presence of insulin resistance features.
