From Laparoscopic Right Colectomy with Extracorporeal Anastomosis to Robot-Assisted Intracorporeal Anastomosis to Totally Robotic Right Colectomy for Cancer: The Evolution of Robotic Multiquadrant Abdominal Surgery.

Background: Intracorporeal anastomosis (IA) in right colectomies shows many advantages over extracorporeal anastomosis (EA). Many difficulties encountered in laparoscopic IA can be overcome with hybrid robot-assisted IA or recently with totally robotic procedures. In the literature, few works have been published comparing laparoscopic, hybrid, and totally robotic right colectomies.

Laparoscopic colorrhaphy, irrigation and drainage in the treatment of complicated acute diverticulitis: initial experience.

The natural history of diverticulosis is worthy of note for its acute, sometimes recurrent, attacks of diverticulitis and the significant risk of serious complications, such as abscess, fistula and peritonitis. Most mild attacks of diverticulitis respond well to medical therapy while surgical treatment is indicated in the complicated forms of the disease. We evaluate the results of treatment of complicated acute diverticulitis by laparoscopic colorrhaphy, irrigation and drainage as a minimal surgical approach in 7 selected patients.

Pursestring placement before transsection of the rectum for facilitating the stapled low colorectal anastomosis.

We propose a simple, easy technique to perform a stapled colorectal anastomosis close to the anal sphincter that may help to lower leak rates. This is the same technique used by us for successful performance of intrathoracic and abdominal esophagoenteric mechanical anastomoses. The technique consists of hand sewing a double pursestring suture before sectioning the rectum.

Repair of a recurrent benign Tracheoesophageal fistula with a Gore-Tex membrane.

A case is reported of a recurrent postintubation tracheoesophageal fistula treated with the interposition of a Gore-Tex patch between the trachea and the esophagus.
