IgG4-related disease: Case report and 6-year follow-up of an elusive diagnosis mimicking malignancy.

Key Clinical Message: IgG4-related disease is a rare and emerging pathology, characterized by the appearance of pseudotumors. Due to the ability to mimic other pathologies, it is essential to consider it as a differential diagnosis in multisystemic processes. The diagnosis is challenging, requiring a multidisciplinary approach, to minimize the associated morbidity and mortality.

Trends and costs of pertussis hospitalizations in Portugal, 2000 to 2015: from 0 to 95 years old.

Background: Pertussis has caused several outbreaks and concern worldwide. Despite high vaccination coverage, people of all ages are still affected with significant morbidity and mortality. We aimed to analyse all pertussis hospitalizations in Portugal to help to delineate preventive policies.

Determination of ammonium in marine waters using a gas diffusion multicommuted flow injection system with in-line prevention of metal hydroxides precipitation.

A multi-commuted flow system coupled to a gas diffusion device was developed for the spectrophotometric determination of ammonium nitrogen in sea and estuarine waters. The efficiency of complexing agents to prevent precipitation of metallic hydroxides, due to the high pH value of the carrier solution, was studied. Under the optimised conditions, no interference was observed from different expected interfering ions as well as volatile amines.
