Circulating Fibronectin and Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-2 Levels as Possible Predictors of Recurrent Placental Syndrome: An Exploratory Study.

Background/aim: Placental syndromes (PS) are characterized by endothelial dysfunction complicating placental dysfunction. Possible markers for endothelial dysfunction and amount of trophoblast are fibronectin and plasminogen activator inhibitor-2 (PAI-2), respectively. We aimed (1) to determine whether in women with recurrent PS (rPS), this complication is preceded by deviating fibronectin- and PAI-2-levels, and (2) whether this is dependent on pre-pregnant plasma volume (PV).

Preterm delivery at low gestational age: risk factors for short latency. A multivariated analysis.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a rare inherited connective disorder causing increased bone fragility and low bone mass. OI includes severe bone fragility, impaired dentinogenesis, with less common alterations in the joints, blood vessels, heart valves, skin. Interestingly, description of left ventricular rupture, aortic dissection and heart valves incompetence has been previously described.

Validity of amniotic fluid index in preterm rupture of membranes.

Background: Preterm premature rupture of membranes (pPROM) complicates up to one-third of preterm deliveries. We studied the Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) in order to ascertain its validity as a predictive variable of maternal-fetal outcome in pregnancies complicated by pPROM.
