Long-term outcomes of patients with autoimmune hepatitis induced cirrhosis after immunosuppressive treatment.

Introduction: Autoimmune hepatitis is an immune-mediated liver disease that results in hepatic inflammation and subsequent fibrosis. We aimed to assess the natural history of autoimmune hepatitis in patients who had cirrhosis at the time of diagnosis.

Methods: We examined consecutive patients with autoimmune hepatitis (based on the revised International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group criteria) and cirrhosis who had long-term follow-up between 2012 and 2018.

Effect of a Quality Improvement Project to Reduce Noise in a Pediatric Unit.

Purpose: Noise levels remain high in clinical settings, which may result in stress and sleep disruption, and can lead to immunosuppression, delayed healing, confusion, disorientation, delusions, and increased length of hospital stay. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to assess effects of a multidisciplinary noise reduction program on a pediatric unit in an acute care hospital in a developing country.

Methods: A quality improvement project was carried out over 15 months in a pediatric unit.
