Purpose: Patients and physicians in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) face challenges owing to limited expertise and suboptimal access to appropriate diagnostic and treatment modalities. The "A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase" (ADAM) protein family and the "A Disintegrin-like And Metalloproteinase with ThromboSpondin motifs" (ADAMTS) protein family are two related families of human proteins.
