Vitamin E and its clinical challenges in cosmetic and reconstructive medicine with focus on scars; a review.

Hypertrophic scars are abnormal scars that develop after wound-healing, especially in some ethnic backgrounds. The after-effects of these scars result in depression, posttraumatic stress syndrome, anxiety, impaired self-esteem and quality of life. Treatment of these scars still is a subject of different studies and is a challenging issue in reconstructive medicine.

Effects of piracetam on pediatric breath holding spells: a randomized double blind controlled trial.

Objective: Breath holding spells (BHS) are common paroxysmal non-epileptic events in the pediatric population which are very stressfull despite their harmless nature. There has been no specific treatment found for the spells yet. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of piracetam (2-oxo-l-pyrrolidine) on these children.

Obesity and related factors in 7-12 year-old elementary school students during 2009-2010 in Sari, Iran.

Aim: To define the prevalence of obesity and its related factors in 2-7 year-old elementary school students in Sari city (Mazandaran, Iran).

Methods: In this descriptive cross sectional study, which was conducted in the 2009-2010 period, the study population included 7-12 year-old first to fifth grade elementary school students in Sari. Sampling was multi-stage and stratified randomization at level of the target students.

Knowledge, attitude, and practice of reproductive behavior in Iranian minor thalassemia couples.

Objective: To investigate the knowledge, attitude, and practice of reproductive behavior in Iranian minor thalassemia couples in Ghaemshahr City, Mazandaran, Iran.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive survey conducted in 2006. Birth rates from 1997-2005 and the number of newly registered patients from at risk couples was recorded.
