This paper presents the investigation carried out by CEA List and ArcelorMittal R&D in order to assess the potential of linac-based neutron activation analysis to detect and quantify copper in scrap metal. Performances are evaluated using MCNP6 and then validated experimentally using a 6 MeV linac coupled with heavy water. It is shown that (γ, n) reaction cross-sections for deuterium are likely to be undervalued in ENDF/B-VII and suggested that photoneutron production algorithms in Monte Carlo codes should be reexamined.

Background: In this study, our aim was to compare the effects of tourniquet and tranexamic acid (TXA) use on tibial cement penetration in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using radiograph images. In addition, we also aimed at investigating the effects of age, gender, body mass index (BMI), and bone mineral density on cement penetration.

Methods: One hundred seventy patients who underwent TKA for primary osteoarthritis were retrospectively evaluated.

Objectives: Defining predictors of damage would improve patient care. We applied damage indexes to patients with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) and identified the predictors of damage.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional analysis of 926 FMF patients, who fulfilled the Tel-Hashomer criteria and had at least six months of follow-up.

Fatty alcohols have been identified as promising organic phase change materials (PCMs) for thermal energy storage, because of their suitable temperature range, nontoxicity and can be obtained from both natural and synthetic sources. Like all other organic PCMs, octadecanol (OD) as PCM suffers from low thermal conductivity (TC). In this work, to enhance its TC, it was grafted on the functionalized MWCNT and were used as a conductive filler to enhance overall thermal properties of OD in a composite PCM (CPCMs) structure.

Background/aim: Colchicine is the mainstay of treatment in FMF. However, in daily practice it is not easy to maintain effective colchicine doses in a substantial number of patients due to its side effects. In this study, we aimed to investigate prevalence and risk factors for colchicine side effects that limit optimal drug dosing and cause permanent discontinuation.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease involving degeneration of dopaminergic neurons of the nigrostriatal pathways. Over the past decades, most of the medications for the treatment of PD patients have been used to modulate dopamine concentrations in the basal ganglia. This includes levodopa and its inhibitory metabolizing enzymes.

We have earlier reported anticancer activity in Withaferin A (Wi-A), a withanolide derived from Ashwagandha () and caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), an active compound from New Zealand honeybee propolis. Whereas Wi-A was cytotoxic to both cancer and normal cells, CAPE has been shown to cause selective death of cancer cells. In the present study, we investigated the efficacy of Wi-A, CAPE, and their combination to ovarian and cervical cancer cells.

In the Graf method of hip ultrasonography, the diagnosis of the infantile hip with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is strictly dependent on the bony roof (alpha angle) and the cartilage roof (beta angle) measurements. In this study, we investigated whether the infant hip could be diagnosed with DDH solely by evaluating ultrasound images obtained in the standard plane, without bony roof and cartilage roof measurements, in respect to different professional experience levels. Two hundred ten hip ultrasounds were randomly selected from patients who presented to our hospital for DDH screening.

The material of the present checklist has been collected from the Iranian intertidal and shallow subtidal shores of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman from 2015 to 2019, in addition to re-examining all the materials deposited in the Zoological Museum of the University of Tehran. This checklist providing 16 new records for the Persian Gulf and 15 for the Gulf of Oman raised the number of recorded caridean shrimps to 109 and 49 for these gulfs, respectively. However, the actual number of these shrimps are higher than these numbers due to two facts.

Objectives: The ICEpop CAPability measure for adults (ICECAP-A) is a measure of capability well-being for adults and, by focusing on more than health, can extend the evaluative space of economic evaluations. The aim of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the ICECAP-A questionnaire into Persian to assess the construct validity and reliability of the ICECAP-A in the Iranian general population.

Methods: In this study, we followed Beaton's guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation of self-report measures.

Objectives: Immunoglobulin (Ig) A vasculitis affects children more commonly than adults and previous literature lacks any formal damage assessment. Our aim in this study is to investigate the disease course, relapse rates and prognostic factors in adult patients with IgA vasculitis and to evaluate the disease-related damage.

Methods: We assembled a retrospective cohort of adult IgA vasculitis from six tertiary Rheumatology Centres in Turkey.

Purpose: This randomized, placebo-controlled study examined the effect of vitamin D replacement therapy on neuropathic symptoms and balance in patients with diabetic neuropathic pain and low vitamin D levels.

Patients And Methods: Among the 258 patients, the results in a total of 57 volunteers (32 in the treatment and 25 in the control arm) meeting the inclusion criteria are reported. Symptoms of neuropathic pain were assessed using Douleur Neuropathique 4 (DN4) questionnaire, and presence of polyneuropathy (PNP) was determined by performing electromyography (EMG).

This work is focused on the preparation of an activated charcoal by carbonization of waste tire rubbers (WTRs) and its evaluation for shape-stabilization of dodecyl alcohol (DDA) as an organic phase change material (PCM) used for thermal energy storage (TES). In the composite, DDA had TES function as carbonized waste tire (CWT) acted as supporting and thermal conductive frameworks. CWT prevented leakage of melted DDA during phase change due to its good adsorption ability until the weight ratio of DDA reached 78%.

This work describes an analysis of titanium dioxide (TiO ) thin films prepared on silicon substrates by direct current (DC) planar magnetron sputtering system in O /Ar atmosphere in correlation with three-dimensional (3D) surface characterization using atomic force microscopy (AFM). The samples were grown at temperatures 200, 300, and 400°C on silicon substrate using the same deposition time (30 min) and were distributed into four groups: Group I (as-deposited samples), Group II (samples annealed at 200°C), Group III (samples annealed at 300°C), and Group IV (samples annealed at 400°C). AFM images with a size of 0.
