Background: Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with inadequate responses to standard therapies have unmet therapeutic needs. The immunomodulatory, proangiogenic, and antifibrotic properties of mesenchymal stromal cells support their use in treating patients with SLE. We aimed to assess the safety of a single intravenous infusion of allogeneic umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells in patients with severe SLE.

Background: Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH) is a key feature in clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs) that impacts outcomes such as aggressiveness, response to treatments, or recurrence. In particular, it may explain tumor relapse after surgery in clinically low-risk patients who did not benefit from adjuvant therapy. Recently, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has emerged as a powerful tool to unravel expression ITH (eITH) and might enable better assessment of clinical outcomes in ccRCC.

We describe and analyze a "care as usual" strategy of a French Comprehensive Cancer Center during the COVID-19 pandemic to manage surgical patients with gynecological cancer. We conducted a retrospective analysis evaluating the surgical activity in our gynecologic oncology department between January 21 and May 12, 2020. We compared the surgical activity and surgical and oncologic outcomes during the pre-lockdown period and the pandemic period.

Renal cell carcinoma is the third type of urologic cancer and has a poor prognosis with 30% of metastatic patients at diagnosis. The antiangiogenics and targeted immunotherapies led to treatment remodeling emphasizing the role of the tumour microenvironment. However, long-term responses are rare with a high rate of resistance.

Background: Bovine paratuberculosis is a contagious disease, caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP), with adverse effects on animal welfare and serious economic consequences. Published results on host genetic resistance to MAP are inconsistent, mainly because of difficulties in characterizing the infection status of cows.

Renal cell carcinoma encompass distinct diseases with different pathologic features and distinct molecular pathways. Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting the programmed death receptor ligand 1 (PD-L1)/programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1) pathway alone or in combination have greatly changed clinical management of metastatic renal cell carcinoma, now competing with antiangiogenic drugs in monotherapy for first-line treatment. However, long-term response rates are low, and biomarkers are needed to predict treatment response.

We report the case of a female patient with ubiquitously distributed cutaneous and subcutaneous nodules measuring 2 to 6 cm along their long axis. These nodules first developed at the age of 63 years and subsequently appeared in crops separated by spontaneous remissions. Studies of removed nodules demonstrated diffuse lymphoid follicular hyperplasia suggesting a tumor and raising difficult nosologic problems, especially regarding relationships with the extranodal multicentric Castleman syndrome.

This study is based on 48 cases of paralysis of the femoral or sciatic nerves complicating hip surgery, mostly total hip arthroplasty. Most of these lesions arose during difficult operations. The diagnosis was clinical and electromyographic, but it was not always made from the outset.

A simple, reproducible and reliable method is proposed for measurement of cotyloid version. Using a standing frontal image of hip, the cotyloid borders are identified and a single-plane geometric projection determines the precise degree of version. This study can also be made from a conventional frontal pelvic image with bipodalic weight bearing.

The subperiosteal type of chondroma of hand is reputedly rare. Four such cases are reported two in adolescents, one in a child and one in an adult. The chondroma being localized to the phalanges, its most frequent development site.

A literature review allowed classification of seven cases of Sprengel's deformity based on that described by Rigault et al. This classification into three types as a function of degree of elevation defines each case within the context of associated malformations, and appropriate therapy. Surgery is indicated, employing Woodward's type of operation, for patients with functional and esthetic deficits, particularly in Rigault's type II deformity.

230 shelf operations were carried out between 1961 and 1985 for painful acetabular dysplasia or subluxation of the hip. 208 patients have been followed up for more than one year, with 79 for between 10 and 24 years. Substantial relief of pain was obtained in 88%.

Molecules recognised by the monoclonal antibodies Leu 1 - OKT 1 - Mid 5 (CD5 molecules) were originally shown on human T cells and are equivalent to Lyt-1 molecules in the mouse. These surface molecules are detectable on some human B cells, but are weakly expressed. We have therefore tested the effects of the tumour-promoter, phorbol myristic acetate (PMA) on expression of these molecules on B cells.

Three cases of Kirner's deformity in siblings are reported. Kirner's deformity consists in a palmar bending of the terminal phalanx of the 5th finger. The deformity is usually bilateral; the condition is congenital but the deformity is recognized in later childhood and has to be classified as osteochondrodysplasia.

Results of three therapeutic modalities used for the treatment of a homogeneous series of patients with a Pouteau Colles fracture are analyzed. Orthopedic treatment provided deceiving results. Pinning was, on the contrary, very effective, intrafocal pinning with immediate mobilization of the wrist appearing perfectly effective.

In this report concerned with luxation of the elbow and fractures of the upper end of two forearm bones in children emphasis is placed on the importance of the initial treatment, since sequelae are not corrected during growth. Correct therapy requires firstly a precise diagnosis, this depending on the obtaining of images of very good quality, if necessary taken during sleep if the child has to be anesthetized. Therapy should be as atraumatic as possible, particularly in the region of the head of radius, to avoid its subsequent necrosis.

After a brief description of the classification of fractures of lower and of humerus in children, methods are described for the application of different orthopedic and surgical procedures developed over the years. Treatment of supracondylar fractures remains very conventional (Judet's method), experience lacking in the use of contention in strong flexion for these fractures. Emphasis is placed on two points: the need for perfect reduction under all circumstances, since growth will have little impact on correction of residual faults, and the quality and reading of review radiographic images to avoid major mistakes in reduction.

A young 15 year old girl presented with a voluminous desmoid tumor of the calf. Three attempts to excise the tumor were only partially successful because of the risk of vascular and nerve damage, and excision was incomplete on each occasion. These tactics appeared to be justified, however, since the tumor had little functional effects and appeared to become stable at the last examination.

Anatomopathologic study of fractures of lower end of femur in 87 patients demonstrated the frequency of compound lesions in adults, epiphyseal detachment being the most common finding in children. Therapy used resulted in consolidation within a mean period of 4 months. Anatomic results were satisfactory in 87% of cases, 2 of 3 patients recuperating a knee compatible with a normal active life.

The radiographic results of treatment of unstable thoracolumbar spinal injuries by Harrington rods are reviewed. The loss of initial correction of kyphosis is 8 degrees on average. Correlation between good anatomical reduction and lapse of time before operation, level of instrumentation and solid spinal fusion exists.
