Tetrapedia diversipes is a Neotropical solitary bee commonly found in trap-nests, known for its morphological adaptations for floral oil collection and prepupal diapause during the cold and dry season. Here, we present the genome assembly of T. diversipes (332 Mbp), comprising 2,575 scaffolds, with 15,028 predicted protein-coding genes.

Objective: To evaluate the retention rate and other clinical criteria of four different restorative techniques for non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) after 4 years.

Methods: This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, and split-mouth study evaluating four different adhesion strategies in non-carious cervical lesion restorations: adhesive restorative system (Scotchbond Universal Adhesive/Filtek Z350XT) without (SBU) and with selective enamel acid-etching (E-SBU), resin-modified glass-ionomer cements (Vitremer; RMGIC), and ethylenediaminetetraacetic as acid pretreatment (E-RMGIC). In total, 200 restorations were placed in 50 patients.

The field of radiation oncology has achieved significant technological and scientific advancements in the 21 century. Yet uptake of new evidence-based practices has been heterogeneous, even in the presence of national and international guidelines. Addressing barriers to practice change requires a deliberate focus on developing and testing strategies tailored to improving care delivery and quality, especially for vulnerable patient populations.

Approximately 16,000 thousand tonnes of cocoa husk are produced annually worldwide during the chocolate production chain, representing considerable potential for pectin extraction. The aim of this study was to investigate a new extraction technique using a binary system composed of carbon dioxide and water (CO + HO) at high pressure and temperature, on cocoa sample from floodplain ecosystem. Temperatures of 393.

Introduction: Central venous catheterisation (CVC) is a commonly performed procedure in clinical practice. Although usually safe, complications can arise such inadvertent vascular lesion. This report is of a case of left brachiocephalic vascular lesion due to a subclavian catheter, thus raising awareness about this potential complication, which is not always immediately recognised.

Athyreus arretado Celante & Carvalho, new species (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae: Bolboceratinae: Athyreini) is described from Casa Nova, Bahia, Brazil. An updated identification key to males in the Athyreus aeneus species group is provided. Distribution maps of some Bolboceratinae species with new records in northeastern Brazil for Athyreus tuberifer Felsche, 1909 from Sergipe; Neoathyreus (Neoathyreus) anthracinus (Klug, 1843) and Neoathyreus (Neoathyreus) lanuginosus (Klug, 1843) from Paraíba; Athyreus vavini Boucomont, 1902, Neoathyreus (Neoathyreus) braziliensis Howden, 1985, and Neoathyreus (Neoathyreus) centromaculatus (Felsche, 1909) from Pernambuco; and Bolbapium caesum (Klug, 1843) from Bahia are provided.

The snapping shrimp family Alpheidae Rafinesque, 1815 includes numerous species, most of which present controversial geographical distributions. The disjunct distribution of Alpheus simus Guérin-Méneville, 1856 in the western Atlantic, from Florida to the south of the Caribbean Sea and then from Rio Grande do Norte to Bahia in Brazil, suggests that Brazilian material may belong to an undescribed species. The examination of specimens previously identified as A.

Introduction: Prospective registration of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) is highly recommended to ensure research transparency and prevent selective outcome reporting (SOR). This study aimed to evaluate the adherence to registration and the presence of SOR in RCTs published in endodontic journals over the past 5 years.

Methods: Electronic searches were conducted in PubMed and the libraries of the Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal, European Endodontic Journal, and Australian Endodontic Journal.

Breast cancer (BC) is a leading cause of death worldwide, particularly also among African woman. In order to better stratify patients for the most effective (immuno-) therapy, an in depth characterization of the immune status of BC patients is required. In this study, a cohort of 65 Ethiopian patients with primary BC underwent immune profiling by multicolor flow cytometry on peripheral blood samples collected prior to surgery and to any other therapy.

Background: Left atrial (LA) remodeling plays a significant role in the progression of atrial fibrillation (AF). Although LA wall thickness (LAWT) has emerged as an indicator of structural remodeling, its impact on AF outcomes remains unclear. We aimed to determine the association between LAWT and AF recurrence after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI), as well as to evaluate the relationship between LAWT and LA fibrosis.

Hybrid procedures offer a promising solution for complex cases where open surgery is high risk, relying on the collaboration of anaesthesiologists, cardiac surgeons and interventional cardiologists. We present a male patient in his 70s with severe aortic stenosis, coronary artery disease, ascending aortic aneurysm and heart failure who underwent a hybrid cardiac procedure, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation, percutaneous coronary intervention of the right coronary artery and coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Through this hybrid intervention, involving a minimally invasive transcatheter and an open surgical procedure, the patient remained haemodynamically stable with minimal blood loss.

Eggshell contamination threatens the viability of hatching eggs. This contamination can be caused by harmless, opportunistic, or pathogenic bacteria. Although necessary, the use of synthetic antibiotics to treat eggshells can present several significant problems: They can be toxic and damage the shell, and, most worryingly, they can lead to bacterial resistance.

Vaccination is an effective, cost-efficient method to preventing disease outbreaks. However, vaccine procedures can induce adverse reactions due to stress, increasing plasma cortisol in the short term. In this context, tryptophan may prove to be fundamental as it has been demonstrated to have various desirable neuroendocrine attributes in different fish species.

: Adolescence represents a period of heightened vulnerability to risky sexual behaviours. In Portugal, adolescents are initiating sexual activity at increasingly younger ages, making it relevant to characterise their knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases and prevention methods at an earlier stage of their development. : A cross-sectional observational study was conducted involving the application of a questionnaire to 750 ninth-grade students from Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Portugal.

Background: The clinical management of breast cancer (BC) is mainly based on the assessment of receptor expression by tumour cells. However, there is still an unmet need for novel biomarkers important for prognosis and therapy. The tumour immune microenvironment (TIME) is thought to play a key role in prognosis and therapy selection, therefore this study aimed to describe the TIME in Ethiopian BC patients.

The interaction of high-frequency surface acoustic waves (SAWs) and excitons in van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) offers challenging opportunities to explore novel quantum effects and functionalities. We probe the interaction of neutral excitons, trions, and biexcitons with SAWs in a hBN/WSe/hBN vdWH. We show that neutral excitons respond weakly to the SAW stimulus at 5 K.

Diapause has long been proposed to play a significant role in the evolution of eusociality in Hymenoptera. Recent studies have shown that shifts in the diapause stage precede social evolution in wasps and bees; however, the genomic basis remains unknown. Given the overlap in molecular pathways that regulate diapause and lifespan, we hypothesized that the evolutionary loss of developmental diapause may lead to extended lifespan among adults, which is a prerequisite for the evolution of eusociality.

Plastic waste is a major threat in our industrialized world and is driving research into bioplastics. The success of biobased polyethylene furanoate (PEF) as a viable alternative to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) of fossil origin will depend on designing effective enzymes to break it down, aiding its recycling. Here, a panel of fungal and bacterial cutinases were functionally expressed in a tandem yeast expression system based on and .
