Background: In clinical studies, first-line afatinib demonstrated efficacy in Del19-EGFR NSCLC.
Materials And Methods: This prospective, non-interventional study assessed efficacy and safety of first-line afatinib in patients with advanced/metastatic NSCLC with Del19-EGFR from Galicia (Spain), with a preplanned analysis by age (<70 vs ≥70 years).
Results: Median age of 46 patients enrolled was 69.
The finding of a genotype-negative hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) pedigree with several affected members indicating a familial origin of the disease has driven this study to discover causative gene variants. Genetic testing of the proband and subsequent family screening revealed the presence of a rare variant in the MYBPC3 gene, c.3331-26T>G in intron 30, with evidence supporting cosegregation with the disease in the family.

Knowledge about the influence of baseline clinical and analytical factors on therapy outcomes is scarce.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study involving 119 previously treated or untreated mUC patients under anti-PD-(L)1 therapy in a real-world scenario.
Here we report an infant with clinical findings suggestive of Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome (JLNS), including a prolonged QT interval (LQTS) and chronic bilateral sensorineural deafness. NGS analysis revealed one known heterozygous pathogenic missense variant, KCNQ1 p.R259L, previously associated with LQTS but insufficient to explain the cardioauditory disorder.

We sought to investigate the relationship between rare variants in and the development of HCM.

In this study, we investigate for the first time to the best of our knowledge the prognostic and predictive utility of the LIPI in a multicenter nivolumab monotherapy-based cohort. We retrospectively analyzed the influence of the baseline LIPI on overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), disease control rate (DCR), and overall response rate (ORR) among 153 patients of a cohort of 188 advanced NSCLC patients treated with nivolumab in the second line of therapy or beyond.

While pathogenic variants in all ARCI genes are associated with LI and CIE phenotypes, the unique gene associated with HI is ABCA12. In HI, the most severe ARCI form, pathogenic variants in both ABCA12 gene alleles usually have a severe impact on protein function.

Method: retrospective cohort, performed in a first aid hospital, Porto Alegre city, in the records of 22 children hospitalized in the ICU due to violence. Quantitative analysis was performed by absolute and relative frequency rates, chi-square and relative risk.
Once metastatic bladder cancer has progressed to first-line treatment, the number of therapeutic options is scarce. Among chemotherapeutic agents showing activity in phase II trials, including taxanes, vinflunine (VFL) is the only one shown to increase overall survival in a phase III trial. In addition to its efficacy, VFL is safe in special population groups.

The current study describes the experience of rearrangement detection of a referral center in the public health care system of Galicia in North-Western Spain. The fluorescence hybridization (FISH) patterns of the gene and the clinical and pathological features of these patients are reported.

Here, we specifically search for regulatory variants at risk by sequencing promoter regions of twenty-three genes implied in schizophrenia by copy number variant or genome-wide association studies. After strict quality control, a total of 55,206bp per sample were analyzed in 526 schizophrenia cases and 516 controls from Galicia, NW Spain, using the Applied Biosystems SOLiD System.

Patients And Methods: All newly diagnosed advanced or metastatic NSCLC patients were screened for EGFR mutations in matched tumor samples (tissue or cytology specimens) and serum samples.
Results: Of 198 patients screened for EGFR mutations in tumor samples, 184 had evaluable data and, of these, 25 (13.
Enzalutamide (MDV3100), an androgen receptor-signalling inhibitor, represents the most recent compound added to the therapeutic armamentarium for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) who progressed to docetaxel. The anti-tumour activity and safety of enzalutamide has been demonstrated in a phase III clinical trial, showing a benefit in overall survival, which was the primary endpoint. There are no head-to-head studies comparing the different treatment options in this subset of patients.

The majority do not have epidermal growth factor receptor-activating mutations (EGFRwt). Methods: Patients with unresectable stage IIIA o dry IIIB NSCLC with no evidence of tumor progression after receiving a standard cCRT regimen with curative intent were included. Oral erlotinib 150 mg/day was administered within 4-6 weeks after the end of the cCRT for a maximum of 6 months if no disease progression or intolerable toxicity occurred.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of first-line treatment with bevacizumab, cisplatin and vinorelbine and bevacizumab maintenance in non-squamous, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Research Design And Methods: Forty-nine patients with stage IIIB plus pleural effusion or stage IV NSCLC were included in a Phase II clinical trial. Treatment consisted of 3-week cycles of bevacizumab (15 mg/kg on day 1), cisplatin (80 mg/m(2) on day 1) and vinorelbine (25 mg/m(2) on days 1 and 8).
Objective: Couples at risk of severe congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) may be offered prenatal treatment or preimplantation diagnosis. However, proper genetic counselling requires the accurate identification of apparently 'mild alleles' in partners of CAH-carriers/patients.
Methods: CYP21A2 gene analyses were performed in 255 patients with severe 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD), 94 with mild 21-OHD, 752 parental samples, 233 clinically unaffected partners and 253 historic DNA samples.
Background: Poor survival rates in extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients prompted us to evaluate a sequential dose-dense schedule of paclitaxel followed by topotecan.
Patients And Methods: Forty-three patients with previously untreated, extensive-stage SCLC received three cycles of paclitaxel 250 mg/m(2) over 3 h every 14 days followed by three cycles of topotecan 2.5 mg/m(2) for 5 days every 21 days.
