This study of pediatric residents aimed to test the hypothesis that their sense of meaning at work is associated positively with specialty satisfaction and negatively with burnout.
Methods: In June 2018, we surveyed residents at a large urban pediatrics program, using the Work and Meaning Inventory (WAMI), the Global Specialty Satisfaction measure, and a single-item burnout measure.
The synthesis and characterization of two half-sandwich complexes of Ru(II) and Ir(III) with thiabendazole as ancillary ligand and their DNA binding ability were investigated using experimental and computational methods. H NMR and acid-base studies have shown that aquo-complexes are the reactive species. Kinetic studies show that both complexes bind covalently to DNA through the metal site and non covalently through the ancillary ligand.

Methods: We measured caregivers' greeting preferences and perceptions of how residents, attending physicians, and nurses greeted them by surveying caregivers on 1 unit at a large urban children's hospital from October 2017 to April 2018. The 27-item survey consisted of multiple choice, Likert scale, and demographic measures.
A new fluorescent, non-cytotoxic perylene diimide derivative with two biotins at the peri position, PDI2B, has been synthesized. This molecule is able to interact selectively with G-quadruplexes with scarce or no affinity towards single- or double-stranded DNA. These features have made it possible to design a simple, effective, safe, cheap, and selective method for fishing G-quadruplex structures in solution by use of PDI2B and streptavidin coated magnetic beads.

We explored their cytotoxicity and ability to bind to deoxyguanosine monophosphate (dGMP), DNA, and albumin models. By H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies, circular dichroism, agarose gel electrophoresis, differential scanning calorimetry measurements, and density functional theory calculations, we verified that only 3 can form aquacomplex species after dimethyl sulfoxide solvation; surprisingly, 1, 2, and 3 can bind covalently to DNA, whereas 4 can form a noncovalent complex.

Objective To evaluate the possible association between antenatal magnesium sulfate treatment with histological chorioamnionitis in patients with singleton or dichorionic twins that had preterm premature rupture of the membranes. Methods This was an observational study performed in patients admitted to the hospital with rupture of membranes before 34 weeks' gestation. The primary outcome was histological chorioamnionitis and the primary predictor was antenatal magnesium sulfate treatment.

Objective: In this study, we sought to characterize the tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) baseline operational capacity in mature fetuses and their mothers prior to the onset of labor.
Materials And Methods: We used an experimental pregnant nonhuman primate model to measure the plasma concentration of TNFα, TNF transmembrane receptor I (TNFRI), and TNFRII with validated enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Coefficients of correlations between the maternal and the fetal values and the soluble TNFα, TNFRI, or TNFRII concentrations and ratios were calculated.
Background: About half of all pregnancies in the United States are unplanned, and many start soon after a previous delivery. Our aim was to determine if the implementation of the Quick Start Contraception Initiation Method during the 6-week postpartum evaluation could improve the delivery of contraception.
Study Design: The medical records of 979 patients seen for their 6-week postpartum visit at our urban Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) between July 2004 and June 2006 were reviewed.
Problem: A maternal serum biomarker profile analysis was performed to determine potential indicators of acute rejection of pregnancy following in-utero cell-based treatments in pre-immune embryos.
Method Of Study: We used an established non-human primate model for in-utero stem cell therapy at 38-42 days from fertilization. The maternal serum concentrations of nine candidate biomarkers for acute rejection of pregnancy were determined before and after the injection of different cocktails of human umbilical cord blood stem cells into the gestational sac.
Twin gestations are fascinating and are also high-risk pregnancies. They account for approximately 3% of all pregnancies in the United States. Major obstetrical complications associated with twin pregnancies include hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, and preterm delivery.
