In refugee and internally displaced person settlements, hygienic water handling and free residual chlorine (FRC) are crucial for protecting water against recontamination after distribution up to the household point-of-consumption. We conducted a secondary analysis of water quality and water handling data collected in refugee camps in South Sudan, Jordan, and Rwanda using statistical and process-based modeling to explore how water handling practices affect FRC decay and household FRC outcomes. The two practices that consistently produced a significant effect on FRC decay and household FRC were storing water in direct sunlight and transferring water between containers during household storage.

Histological features and genetic risk factors, among other evidence, supported the amyloid hypothesis of the disease. This neuronocentric paradigm is currently undergoing a shift, considering evidence of the role of other cell types, such as microglia and astrocytes, in disease progression.

To investigate SWOT effectiveness in surface waters, we conducted two before-and-after mixed-method evaluations in a Uganda refugee settlement served by piped and trucked surface water systems. We surveyed 888 users on water knowledge, attitudes, and practices; collected 2768 water samples to evaluate FRC,, and disinfection by-products (DBPs) concentrations; and conducted nine key-informant interviews with system operators about SWOT implementation.

To this end, probes that combine several complementary features are necessary. The ideal probe is selectively uptaken and activated in tumor cells compared with control ones and is not fluorescent in the extracellular medium.

Here, we use click chemistry to functionalize the Lm cell wall and turn the bacterium into an "intelligent carrier" of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin. Doxorubicin-loaded Lm retains most of its biological properties and, compared to the control fluorophore-functionalized bacteria, shows enhanced cytotoxicity against melanoma cells both in vitro and in a xenograft model in zebrafish.

Materials And Methods: Seven different resin materials for denture base and teeth were used in the form of 280 half-disks. Samples were randomly assigned to two cleaning groups (FD, FreshDent; PO, Polydent), with daily 2- or 3-min immersion followed by water storage, repeated for 30 days.
Alterations in pH are a hallmark in several pathologies including cancer, ischemia, and inflammation. Non-invasive magnetic resonance methods to measure pH offer a new approach for early diagnosis of diseases characterized by acid-base imbalances. The hyperpolarization with parahydrogen-induced polarization (PHIP) enhances inherently low signals in magnetic resonance experiments by several orders of magnitude and offers a suitable platform to obtain biocompatible markers in less than one minute.

Pain due to HNSCC is diverse and may vary based on clinicopathological factors. This study aims to characterize different pain patterns linked with PNI, its influence on daily functioning, and gain insights into molecular changes and pathways associated with PNI-related pain in HNSCC patients.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic performance of amino-acid PET in high-grade gliomas (HGG) patients at the time of temozolomide (TMZ) treatment discontinuation, after the Stupp protocol.
Methods: The analysis included consecutive HGG patients with dynamic [18F]FDOPA PET imaging within 3 months of the end of TMZ therapy, post-Stupp protocol. Static and dynamic PET parameters, responses to RANO criteria for MRI and clinical and histo-molecular factors were correlated to progression-free (PFS).

Materials And Methods: Two types of resin cements were utilized: conventional and self-adhesive. Additionally, 2 cementation protocols were employed, involving relined and non-relined fiberglass posts.
Scleroderma is a chronic and progressive autoimmune disorder of connective tissues often causing lesions and deformities of the hands. Individuals affected by this condition experience daily life limitations and are typically unable to take part in sport activities that involve impacts on the hands. In this article we describe the design and manufacturing of custom-made hand orthoses to play sitting volleyball, for an elite paralympic athlete affected by scleroderma.

While most of the utilized hyperpolarized agents are based on C nuclei, a milestone advance in this area is the emergence of N hyperpolarized contrast agents. Currently, the reported N hyperpolarized agents mainly utilize the dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (d-DNP) protocol.

For this reason, once a satisfactory socket-foot configuration is established after dynamic alignment, it is fundamental to reproduce the same conditions when constructing the definitive carbon fiber socket, and when renewing or constructing a back-up prosthesis, without dismantling the original. In addition, to cope with emerging needs of the athlete, it would be beneficial to implement fine-tuning adjustments of the alignment in a very controlled manner.
