Background: Patients with abnormal (positive) exercise electrocardiography, but normal stress echocardiography (+ECG/-Echo), have an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events compared with patients with a normal (negative) ECG and a normal stress Echo (-ECG/-Echo). However, it is unclear if +ECG/-Echo discordance is associated with a greater burden of subclinical coronary atherosclerosis.
Methods: Project Baseline Health Study participants who underwent a stress Echo and coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan were stratified by stress Echo result: -ECG/-Echo or +ECG/-Echo.

Background: Indexing peak oxygen uptake (VOpeak) to total body mass can underestimate cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in women, older adults, and individuals with obesity. The primary objective of this multicenter study was to derive and validate a body size-independent scaling metric for VOpeak. This metric was termed exercise body mass (EBM).

Machine learning (ML) application in metabolomic analyses is enabling the extraction of meaningful information from complex data. Bringing together domain-specific knowledge from metabolomics with explainable ML methods can refine the predictive performance and interpretability of models used in atherosclerosis research.

Combining drone and satellite images can make forest monitoring more efficient, enabling a more targeted and effective response to contain the spread of invasive species. This research aimed to use high-resolution CBERS-4A satellite combined with drone images to detect invasive trees in forested areas of the Atlantic Forest.

Objectives: In this study, the authors sought to investigate the association between echocardiographically measured donor left ventricular mass (LVM) for heart size matching and the risk of the primary 1-year composite outcome of death or retransplantation.
Methods: The Donor Heart Study was a prospective, multicenter, observational cohort study that collected echocardiograms from brain-dead donors.
Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) is the primary arthropod vector responsible for the transmission of dengue, which is present in more than one hundred countries. The application of synthetic larvicides is one of the most common strategies used for dengue control, but their prolonged use can cause larvicide resistance or tolerance, environmental damage, and have toxic effects on human and animal health. Thus, faced with this problem, there have been increasing efforts to find alternative larvicides against Ae.

There are no curative methods for the disease, and rapid and accurate methods are needed for early detection in the field, even before symptoms appear. These will facilitate the faster removal of infected trees, preventing the spread of the bacteria through commercial citrus orchards.

Discordance between mitochondrial and nuclear DNA is common among animals and can be the result of a number of evolutionary processes, including incomplete lineage sorting and introgression. Particularly relevant in contact zones, mitonuclear discordance is expected because the mitochondrial genome is haploid and primarily uniparentally inherited, whereas nuclear loci are evolving at slower rates. In addition, when closely related taxa come together in hybrid zones, the distribution of diagnostic phenotypic characters and their concordance with the mitochondrial or nuclear lineages can also inform on historical and ongoing dynamics within hybrid zones.

Twenty male Wistar rats were used, divided into 2 groups: placebo laser (PL) and active laser (AL). A high-power diode laser equipment was applied to 5 subdermal vectors on the animal's back region.

Methods: Cross-sectional study considering physicians delivering obstetric care at the Municipal Hospital Vila Santa Catarina, Municipal Hospital Dr. Moysés Deutsch, and Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital, in São Paulo, Brazil.
The aim of this systematic review was to investigate the relationship between fractures of the floor of the orbit (blow outs) and their repercussions on eye movement, based on the available scientific literature. In order to obtain more reliable results, we opted for a methodology that could answer the guiding question of this research. To this end, a systematic review of the literature was carried out, using a rigorous methodological approach.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and infratemporal fossa (ITF) tumors, even though rare, present diagnostic complexities due to their nonspecific symptoms. Synovial sarcoma comprises 5-10% of adult soft-tissue sarcomas and is uncommon in the head and neck and exceptionally rare in the TMJ/ITF region. We presented a case of monophasic synovial sarcoma affecting the left TMJ/ITF in a 24-year-old man with severe preauricular pain who was misdiagnosed with temporomandibular disorder for 3 years.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and metabolic syndrome (MS) are recognized as public health problems which are related to overweight and cardiometabolic factors. The aim of this study was to develop a model to predict MS in people with CKD.
Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study of patients from a reference center in São Luís, MA, Brazil.

Purpose: In this study, we examined the facial, dental, periodontal, and tomographic features associated with excessive gingival display (EGD) when smiling in young adults self-reporting a "gummy smile," categorized by potential etiology.
Methods: The study included 25 healthy adults (18-42 years old; 23 women and 2 men) who self-reported EGD. Participants completed a health questionnaire and underwent a periodontal examination assessing probing depth, clinical attachment level, keratinized gingival width, and gingival thickness (GT).
Background: According to the most recent pulmonary hypertension (PH) guidelines, a main pulmonary artery (MPA) diameter > 25 mm on transthoracic echocardiography supports the diagnosis of PH. However, the size of the pulmonary artery (PA) may vary according to body size, age, and cardiac phases.
Research Question: (1) What are the reference limits for PA size on transthoracic echocardiography, considering differences in body size, sex, and age? (2) What is the diagnostic value of the PA size for classifying PH? (3) How does the selection of different reference groups (healthy volunteers vs patients referred for right heart catheterization [RHC]) influence the diagnostic OR (DOR)?
Study Design And Methods: The study included a reference cohort of 248 healthy individuals as control patients, 693 patients with PH proven by RHC, and 156 patients without PH proven by RHC.
