EWF: simulating exact paths of the Wright-Fisher diffusion.

Motivation: The Wright-Fisher diffusion is important in population genetics in modelling the evolution of allele frequencies over time subject to the influence of biological phenomena such as selection, mutation and genetic drift. Simulating the paths of the process is challenging due to the form of the transition density. We present EWF, a robust and efficient sampler which returns exact draws for the diffusion and diffusion bridge processes, accounting for general models of selection including those with frequency dependence.

The PCDH10 protein is a homophilic cell adhesion molecule that belongs to the δ2-protocadherin family. PCDH10 is highly expressed in the developing brain, especially in the basolateral nucleus of the amygdala (BLA).

Development and Evaluation of an Integrated Outpatient Infusion Care Model for the Treatment of Pediatric Headache.

Background: Care for pediatric patients with headache often occurs in high-cost settings such as emergency departments (EDs) and inpatient settings. Outpatient infusion centers have the potential to reduce care costs for pediatric headache management.

Methods: In this quality improvement study, we describe our experience in creating the capacity to support an integrated outpatient pediatric headache infusion care model through an infusion center.

The effect of infrapatellar fat pad resection on outcomes post-total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review.

Introduction: The infrapatellar fat pad (IPFP) is resected in approximately 88 % of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgeries. The aim of this review is to investigate the impact of the IPFP resection on clinical outcomes post-TKA.

Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteraemia (KPB) has been associated with multiple risk factors. However association of these risk factors with mortality secondary to KPB has been poorly documented.

Objectives: To assess underlying co-morbidities in patients with KPB and any associated presentations.

Getting in and getting out whole: nurse-patient connections in the psychiatric setting.

As a strong component in patient healing, interpersonal connection in the psychiatric/mental health setting can threaten nurses' health. Participant observation on four behavioral health and addiction units revealed a process of connecting with patients' emotional pain, delineating strategies applicable to nurses' multiple world views and practice styles. Findings from 12 nurses highlighted connectedness as a process and personal decision that, with self-awareness and individualized self-protective/self-separating strategies, can enhance patient healing as well as nurse satisfaction and growth.

Introduction: The decision of a woman to get pregnant at later age of her reproductive cycle has be a phenomenon around the world. Epidemiology data show frequent increase of clinical complications in direct proportion in advanced age motherhood, hypertensive disturbances being more prevalent.

Cadaveric renal transplantation after 60 years of age. A single center experience.

We report the outcome of 121 cadaveric renal transplants performed in our institution between September 1985 and April 1992 in 117 patients, aged 60-71 years (mean 63 years) at the time of transplantation. Compared to 640 patients 20-59 years of age transplanted during the same study period, a nonstatistically significant difference was observed in the 5-year actuarial patient (80% and 90%, respectively, in recipients over and under 60 years of age) and transplant (80% and 72%, respectively, in recipients over and under 60 years of age) survival rates. Renal transplantation from cadaver donors over 60 years old.

The influence of donor age on the short- and long-term outcome of cadaveric kidney transplantation was analyzed at our institution. During a 6-year period, 34 and 806 patients underwent kidney transplantation from cadaver donors over or less than age 60, respectively. Graft and patient survivals were compared throughout follow-up and herewith reported.
