Pembrolizumab and other immunotherapies have become central in treating metastatic colon cancer, particularly effective in patients with mismatch repair deficiencies. We report a case involving a man who initially underwent radical surgery for sigmoid colon cancer on April 27, 2011, followed by hepatic tumor resection on September 21, 2017. Post-surgery, he received eight cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy with the CAPEOX regimen and was regularly monitored through CT and MRI scans.

Article Synopsis
  • Invasive infections are a major health threat, particularly to those with weakened immune systems, and triazole drugs like itraconazole (ITR) face challenges due to drug-resistant strains, leading to high mortality rates.
  • A study reveals significant differences in lysine succinylation among fungal strains with varying ITR resistance, highlighting its impact on cell metabolism and the potential role in antifungal resistance.
  • The deducing of using the dessuccinylase inhibitor nicotinamide (NAM) showed promising results in improving survival rates in infected mice and enhancing macrophage activity against infections, presenting new treatment avenues for combating ITR-resistant fungal infections.

Objectives: The study explores the protective role of the peripheral serum of limb remote ischemic postconditioning (LRIP) in reducing the reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and neutrophil activation, which are responsible for the deleterious reperfusion injury.

Methods: LRIP was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by three cycles of 5 min occlusion /5 min reperfusion on the left hind limb. The blood samples were collected before LRIP or 0 and 1 h after LRIP (named Serum, Serum, Serum, respectively).
