Background: Chronic and recurrent vesiculation over the palms and soles is termed chronic vesicular dermatitis. Its etiology is multifactorial and contact allergy plays an important role.
Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate the clinical relevance of patch test reactivity to common contact allergens in chronic palmoplantar vesicular dermatitis.
Corneal blindness is a priority condition under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and an important cause of avoidable blindness in India. A multipronged approach is needed to eliminate corneal blindness. Curable or treatable blindness requires a spectrum of care including medication, optical rehabilitation and corneal transplantation.

The bio-psycho-social model of disability was developed by the WHO as the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. We studied the prevalence of disability and its association with sociodemographic factors and quality of life among adults in a rural area.

Methods: Literature search was carried out in the Medline, Web of Science, Google Scholar, EMBASE and Trip databases.
Background: The population of India is ageing. The number and percentage of elderly persons is increasing. Visual impairment is common among elderly persons and affects their vision-related quality of life.

Although the initial results of the clinical trials supported the renal safety of Tenofovir, clinical use of it has caused a low, albeit a significant, risk of renal damage either in the form of AKI or CKD. The pathophysiology has been linked to the effect of this medication on the proximal tubular cell.

The assessment of knowledge and behavior related to sodium that is consumed in the form of salt plays an important role in the control of cardiovascular diseases. To control the intake of sodium, dietary sources of sodium need to be identified.

Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare disorder of uncontrolled complement activation that manifests classically as anemia, thrombocytopenia, and renal failure, although extrarenal manifestations are observed in 20% of the patient most of which involving central nervous system, with relatively rare involvement of the heart. In this article, we report the case of a 24-year-old male with no history of heart disease presenting with acute systolic heart failure along with microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute kidney injury. Given his presentation of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), along with laboratory results significant for low haptoglobin, platelets, hemoglobin, C3, C4, CH50, and normal ADAMTS13 levels, with no diarrhea and negative STEC polymerase chain reaction in stool, aHUS diagnosis was established with strong clinical suspicion, and immediate initiation of treatment was advised.

We describe a simplified approach for the purification and characterization of urinary albumin, a key biomarker currently used for understanding the onset and prognosis of microalbuminuria. Urinary albumin was purified from human urine collected from diabetic kidney disease patients by using 2-stage tangential flow filtration process and set of column chromatography steps. The relative molecular mass of urinary albumin is 66,871 Da (SYNAPT G2 High Definition Mass Spectrometry System).

Previously, we revealed that COBL is a hotspot for breakpoints in leukemia and could promote IKZF1 deletions. Through an international collaboration, we provide a detailed genetic and clinical picture of B-ALL with COBL rearrangements (COBL-r).

During liver development, cytokines released from various cell types are critical for stem/progenitor cell differentiation and lineage expansions. To determine mechanisms in these stage-specific lineage interactions, we modeled potential effects of soluble signals derived from immortalized human fetal liver parenchymal cells on stem cells, including embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells.

Purpose: The present study aimed to examine the neurological recovery pattern in cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) after anterior cervical decompression and compare it with the existing reports in the literature.
Overview Of Literature: Neurological recovery and regression of myelopathy symptoms is an important factor that determines the outcomes of surgical decompression.
Scaffolds from healthy placentae offer advantages for tissue engineering with undamaged matrix, associated cytoprotective molecules, and embedded vessels for revascularization. As size disparities in human placenta and small recipients hamper preclinical studies, we studied alternative of bovine placentomes in smaller size ranges. Multiple cow placentomes were decellularized and anatomical integrity was analyzed.

Thus far, however, extensive liver repopulation by adult hepatocytes has required ongoing genetic, physical, or chemical injury to host liver. We hypothesized that providing a regulated proliferative and/or survival advantage to transplanted hepatocytes should enable repopulation in a normal liver microenvironment.

There is a growing concern of the influence of media on every aspect of health of children and adolescents. About 95% of the population in India has availability of television.

Quality of life is an abstract concept that is related to the level of disability in the population. Approaches to measuring disability vary across different regions, and purpose and application of the findings.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcute kidney injury (AKI) is associated with many of the same mineral metabolite abnormalities that are observed in chronic kidney disease. These include increased circulating levels of the osteocyte-derived, vitamin D-regulating hormone, fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), and decreased renal expression of klotho, the co-receptor for FGF23. Recent data have indicated that increased FGF23 and decreased klotho levels in the blood and urine could serve as novel predictive biomarkers of incident AKI, or as novel prognostic biomarkers of adverse outcomes in patients with established AKI.

This leads to wastage of left over thread and we have to repeat whole process of suturing as the extra suture needles are not easily available. The present article highlights the use of hypodermic needle as suture needle in such emergencies.

Although surgical techniques for its repair are well described, there is no consensus about perioperative management and this procedure may generate significant airway and respiratory complications intraoperatively, and in the early postoperative period. We aimed to describe variations in perioperative management in tracheocutaneous fistula closure, estimate the incidence of early airway and respiratory complications, and identify any predisposing factors.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOne dimensional heterostructure nanowires (NWs) have attracted a large attention due to the possibility of easily tuning their energy gap, a useful property for application to next generation electronic devices. In this work, we propose new core/shell NW systems where Ge and Si shells are built around very thin As and Sb cores. The modification in the electronic properties arises due to the induced compressive strain experienced by the metal core region which is attributed to the lattice-mismatch with the shell region.
