Bifenthrin (BF), a widely used pyrethroid pesticide in farming, lacks highly sensitive and selective sensors despite its extensive application. Ruthenium complexes are very effective for selective sensing applications but suffer from structural instability at elevated conditions, electrochemical activity, and the use of costly electrolytes. This work improves their electrochemical activity and mechanical strength by incorporating silver nanowires and replacing the costly electrolyte with abundant KCl + PBS, resulting in enhanced signal performance.

Paper-based sensors or paper-based analytical devices (PADs) have recently emerged as the cost-efficient, and portable, on-site detection tools for various biological and environmental analytes. However, paper-based sensors often suffer from poor selectivity. Here, a single-step paper-based flexible sensor platform has been developed for the on-site detection of paraquat (PQ) pesticide in real samples, utilizing chitosan and citrate-capped silver nanoparticles integrated with a flexible paper.

Key Clinical Message: Clinicians in tuberculosis and dengue endemic regions should have heightened vigilance for drug-induced liver injury (DILI) overlapping with active infections, enabling prompt recognition and life-saving conservative management.

Abstract: Severe dengue and drug-induced liver injury (DILI) are significant independent risk factors for acute liver failure. The co-occurrence of these conditions significantly complicates clinical management.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a potentially fatal metabolic complication seen in individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) or type 2 DM under stress, such as infections and non-compliance with treatment. DKA in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (HD) presents challenges due to the unique pathophysiology and the absence of specific management guidelines. This case report highlights the importance of tailoring the treatment of DKA based on the specific requirements of CKD patients on HD.
