Crop production often faces challenges from plant diseases, and biological control emerges as an effective, environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable alternative to chemical control. Wheat blast disease caused by fungal pathogen (MoT), is a potential catastrophic threat to global food security. This study aimed to identify potential bacterial isolates from rice and wheat seeds with inhibitory effects against MoT.

Identification of approved drugs with ALDH1A1 inhibitory potential aimed at enhancing chemotherapy sensitivity in cancer cells: an in-silico drug repurposing approach.

The aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) also known as retinal dehydrogenase, is an enzyme normally involved in the cellular metabolism, development and detoxification processes in healthy cells. However, it's also considered a cancer stem cell marker and its high levels of expression in several cancers, including breast, lung, ovarian, and colon cancer have been associated with poor prognosis and resistance to chemotherapy. Given its crucial role in chemotherapy resistance by detoxification of chemotherapeutic drugs, ALDH1A1 has attracted significant research interest as a potential therapeutic target for cancer.

Exploring the possibility of drug repurposing for cancer therapy targeting human lactate dehydrogenase A: a computational approach.

Human lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) is an anaerobic glycolytic enzyme involved in the inter-conversion of pyruvate to lactate. The level of LDHA in various types of cancer cells is found to be elevated and the dependence of cancer cells on anaerobic glycolysis is viewed as the reason for this elevation. Moreover, inhibition of LDHA activity has been shown to be effective in impairing the growth of tumors, making the LDHA as a potential target for cancer therapy.

Unusual features of gall bladder duplication cyst with review of the literature.

A 1-month-old female infant presented with a lump in the right hypochondrium extending into the right iliac fossa. Ultrasonography and computed tomography suggested an intestinal duplication cyst or a gall bladder cyst. Exploratory laparotomy revealed it to be a congenital gall bladder duplication cyst without associated complications.

An unusual cause of stridor: retropharyngeal cold abscess.

A 15-month-old female presented with a large swelling on the left lateral aspect of the neck and respiratory distress, and stridor due to incomplete obstruction of the upper airway. A lateral X-ray film and computerized tomography scan of the cervical spine showed a retropharyngeal abscess without vertebral involvement. Aspiration and contrast revealed it to be a bilobed tubercular abscess.
