Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the prognosis of root canal treatment (RCT) in dogs with complicated crown-root fractures (CCRFs) of the maxillary fourth premolar (PM4), focusing on the impact of periodontal probing depth (PPD) and furcation involvement on treatment outcomes.

Methods: The study analyzed 122 PM4 teeth affected by CCRF in dogs. The primary outcomes were the success rates of RCT, measured against PPD, and the degree of furcation involvement (stages F0, F1, and F2).

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated a new medial arthroscopic approach to the canine coxofemoral joint, comparing it to the traditional dorsal method.
  • Findings revealed that while the acetabulum is better visualized using the dorsal approach, the medial approach provided better access to the femur's medioventral side.
  • Safety analysis confirmed that the medial approach is viable, with sufficient distance from important neurovascular structures, making it a promising option for joint evaluation.

The Gleason grading system, currently the most powerful prognostic predictor of prostate cancer, is based solely on the tumor's histological architecture and has high inter-observer variability. We propose an automated Gleason scoring system based on deep neural networks for diagnosis of prostate core needle biopsy samples. To verify its efficacy, the system was trained using 1133 cases of prostate core needle biopsy samples and validated on 700 cases.

Single-crystal metals have distinctive properties owing to the absence of grain boundaries and strong anisotropy. Commercial single-crystal metals are usually synthesized by bulk crystal growth or by deposition of thin films onto substrates, and they are expensive and small. We prepared extremely large single-crystal metal foils by "contact-free annealing" from commercial polycrystalline foils.

The change in the lattice parameters or the lattice disorder is claimed as a cause of the slight reduction in the transition temperature by carbon doping in MgB2. In this work, an extensive investigation on the effects of carbohydrate doping has been carried out. It is found that not only the a-axis but also the c-axis lattice parameter increases with the sintering temperature.

The first examples of high-dimensional mixed-valence homometallic cyano-bridged copper complexes were synthesized and characterized: net-structured [Cu(CN)(4){Cu(cyclam)}(1.5)](2)(n)()(H(2)O)(5)(n) (1), ladder-type double-chain-structured [Cu(CN)(2){Cu(CN)(2)Cu(cyclam)}](n)()(H(2)O)(n) (2), layer-structured [{Cu(CN)(2)}(2)Cu(cycalm)](n) (3), and hydrogen-bond-based 2-D [Cu(CN)(3)Cu(cyclam)](n)()(CH(3)OH)(n) (4) (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane). (1) Crystallizes in triclinic space group P with a = 8.
