TRUS-MR fusion guided biopsy highly depends on the quality of alignment between pre-operative Magnetic Resonance (MR) image and live trans-rectal ultrasound (TRUS) image during biopsy. Lot of factors influence the alignment of prostate during the biopsy like rigid motion due to patient movement and deformation of the prostate due to probe pressure. For MR-TRUS alignment during live procedure, the efficiency of the algorithm and accuracy plays an important role.

Skin surface irregularity is the most common side effect after liposuction. To reduce this, it is necessary to devise a systematic method to provide structural composition details of skin layers, such as fat thickness and fat boundary tilt angle, for the plastic surgeon. Several commercial portable devices are available to measure skin layer information, working on the principle of a near-infrared technique using the light penetration properties of tissue in optical windows.

In biomedical, Monte-carlo simulation is commonly used for simulation of light diffusion in tissue. But, most of previous studies did not consider a radial beam LED as light source. Therefore, we considered characteristics of a radial beam LED and applied them on MC simulation as light source.

Automatic detection of suspicious pain regions is very useful in the medical digital infrared thermal imaging research area. To detect those regions, we use the SOFES (Survival Of the Fitness kind of the Evolution Strategy) algorithm which is one of the multimodal function optimization methods. We apply this algorithm to famous diseases, such as a foot of the glycosuria, the degenerative arthritis and the varicose vein.

we applied the inverse problem approach to locate the known source in a uniformly distributed sensor network from a simultaneous RSSI measurement between sensors and sources. We also proposed a new sensing model to calculate RSSI between sensors and a specific source and carefully considered the orientation vector of the source. We detected the original source by means of a linear inverse problem using the calculated RSSI at the target source from the improved sensing model.

In this paper, a new algorithm for the multimodal function optimization is proposed, base on the concept of the survival of the fitness rule of evolution. The proposed algorithm has common criteria not to be invaded by each other. Thus, there is only one survivor in a partial solution space in which one optimal point locates.
