Swd2/Cps35 is a common component of the COMPASS H3K4 methyltransferase and CPF transcription termination complex in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The deletion of SWD2 is lethal, which results from transcription termination defects in snoRNA genes. This study isolated a yeast strain that showed significantly reduced protein level of Swd2 following epitope tagging at its N-terminus (9MYC-SWD2).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The aim was to evaluate the effect of diquafosol on tear film parameters and corneal aberrations after cataract surgery.
Methods: This retrospective, comparative, observational case series included patients who underwent cataract surgery with or without peri-operative use of diquafosol three per cent ophthalmic solution. Patients in group I (31 eyes) were treated with diquafosol three per cent ophthalmic solution six times a day from one week before surgery to three months after surgery.
Aims: We investigated changes in visual function after wearing decorative tinted soft contact lenses with different pigment-free optical zone diameters.
Methods: A prospective study was performed in 30 eyes of 30 healthy volunteers. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), ocular higher-order aberrations (HOAs), modulation transfer function (MTF), Strehl ratio and contrast sensitivity were evaluated after wearing clear lens and tinted lenses with different pigment-free optical zone diameters (4, 5 and 6 mm).
Purpose: To investigate the causes of acute spontaneous submacular hemorrhage with indocyanine green angiography (ICGA).
Methods: Retrospective observation case series. A total of 51 eyes from 51 patients with newly developed spontaneous submacular hemorrhage were enrolled.
Background: To describe the ophthalmological manifestations in patients with childhood onset Leigh syndrome (LS) and investigate the correlation between genotypes and phenotypes in patients with LS.
Methods: Childhood onset LS was clinically and enzymatically confirmed in a total of 63 patients. Among them, 44 patients who underwent ophthalmologic consultation were included in this study.
Background: Though a newly developed spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) is at the center of interests for many ophthalmologic researchers and clinicians, its own characteristics are not fully evaluated yet. The main purpose of this study was to establish the adjusted color probability codes for peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in healthy Koreans and to compare them with original color codes provided by spectral domain OCT.
Methods: Two hundred ninety-five healthy Korean eyes were enrolled and their peripapillary RNFL thickness was measured by Cirrus OCT.
