Background: Symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) is one of the most feared complications after administration of intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (IV rtPA). The aim of this study was to determine correlations between hemorrhage volume (HV) after IV rtPA treatment and risk factors for sICH.
Methods: We analyzed 318 patients from the stroke registries of 4 hospitals in Korea.
Hemichorea-hemiballism (HCHB) was infrequently related to cortical lesions such as tumor or infarction. Although functional derangement of the basal ganglia (BG) or the thalamus (Th) was suggested, pathomechanism of HCHB secondary to cortical lesions remains uncertain. We recruited the patients with HCHB secondary to cerebrovascular diseases, excluding other causes such as hyperglycemia.

We reviewed clinical records and MRI examination in nine probable sCJD. According to hyperintense signal distribution on DWI, the patients were classified into two groups with cortical ribbon plus basal ganglia hyperintensity (6/9) and with only increased cortical signals (3/9).
