Objective: To determine if insomnia-related factors differ depending on the presence of depression in patients with epilepsy.
Methods: This cross-sectional multicenter study collected data on depressive symptoms, insomnia symptoms, and excessive daytime sleepiness, which were defined as a Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) score of ≥ 10, an Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) score of ≥ 15, and an Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) of ≥ 11, respectively. Further, uncontrolled seizures were defined as one or more seizures per month during antiseizure medications treatment.
A post hoc analysis of data from Asian patients included in the study BIA-2093-304 was conducted to evaluate the long-term safety/tolerability and efficacy of adjunctive eslicarbazepine acetate (ESL) in adult Asian patients with refractory focal seizures. Part I was a randomized controlled trial, in which patients received ESL (800 or 1200 mg once daily [QD]) or placebo, assessed over a 12-week maintenance period. Patients completing Part I could enter two open-label extension periods (Part II, 1 year; Part III, ≥2 years), during which all received ESL (400-1600 mg QD).

Objective: We investigated the accuracy of interictal electrical source imaging (II-ESI) in localizing the epileptogenic zone in MRI-negative epilepsy patients who underwent epilepsy surgery. Background: Little is known regarding the effects of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on sleep misperception in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Methods: Sleep state perception was measured by subtracting the objective total sleep time from the subjective sleep duration. Sleep underestimation and overestimation were defined as ± 60 minutes sleep perception.
Background: Severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in patients with rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) may result in frequent fragmentation of REM sleep and consequently lead to a false negative diagnosis of RBD on a video-polysomnography (video-PSG). Thus, we determined whether OSA has the negative impact on video-PSG diagnostic accuracy for RBD.

We present results of three analyses of FAME that further assessed the efficacy and safety of perampanel.
Methods: Patients were stratified by low- (4, 6 mg/day) versus high- (8, 10, 12 mg/day) dose maintenance perampanel, perampanel added to first- versus second-line ASM monotherapy, and concomitant background ASM monotherapy and perampanel dose.
