The NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) for Lung Cancer Screening provide criteria for selecting individuals for screening and offer recommendations for evaluating and managing lung nodules detected during initial and subsequent annual screening. These NCCN Guidelines Insights focus on recent updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Lung Cancer Screening.

The TROPION-Lung05 phase II trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT04484142) evaluated the safety and clinical activity of Dato-DXd in patients with advanced/metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with actionable genomic alterations progressing on or after targeted therapy and platinum-based chemotherapy.

The study looked at how effective and safe a medicine called tarlatamab was in participants with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Participants previously received at least two other treatments for their SCLC.

Here, we have generated a TAL-specific Myh9&10 conditional knockout (Myh9&10 TAL-cKO) mouse model to determine the cell autonomous roles for MYH9&10 proteins in TAL cargo transport and to understand the consequence of TAL dysfunction in the adult kidney. Myh9&10 TAL-cKO mice develop progressive kidney disease with pathological tubular injury confirmed by histological changes, tubular injury markers, upregulation of ER stress/unfolded protein response pathway, and higher blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine.

Methods: Patients received Dato-DXd 6 mg/kg or docetaxel 75 mg/m once every 3 weeks. Dual primary end points were progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the US and globally. The mortality from lung cancer has been declining, due to a reduction in incidence and advances in treatment. Although recent success in developing targeted and immunotherapies for lung cancer has benefitted patients, it has also expanded the complexity of potential treatment options for health care providers.

Irisin is a putative mediator of the benefits of exercise, neuroprotection, bone growth, and cardiac health. However, few studies have focused on irisin in domestic animals.

Objective: This longitudinal study evaluated renal function and acute kidney injury (AKI) over time in US agricultural workers.
Methods: We followed Florida agricultural workers from January 2020 to August 2022, collecting blood and urine preworkday and postworkday during five visits.
Results: Preworkday estimated glomerular filtration rate function in all participants was lower in summers but relatively consistent over time.
Antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) are an emerging class of treatments designed to improve efficacy and decrease toxicity compared with other systemic therapies through the selective delivery of cytotoxic agents to tumor cells. Datopotamab deruxtecan (Dato-DXd) is a novel ADC comprising a topoisomerase I inhibitor payload and a monoclonal antibody directed to trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (TROP2), a protein that is broadly expressed in several types of solid tumors. Dato-DXd is being investigated across multiple solid tumor indications.

While both peptides showed a stimulatory effect on the synthesis of proopiomelanocortin (POMC), the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) precursor in mouse corticotrophs, whether NESF-1 and NLP have any direct effect on glucocorticoid [GC] synthesis in the adrenal cortex remains unknown. The main aim of this study was to determine if NESF-1 and/or NLP act directly on adrenal cortex cells to regulate cortisol synthesis in vitro.

We investigated the effects of endogenous erythropoietin on renal function in kidney ischemic reperfusion injury (IRI) using the prolyl hydroxylase domain (PHD) inhibitor, Roxadustat (ROX). Four h of hypoxia (7% O) and 4 h treatment by ROX prior to IRI did not improve renal function.

The first-line standard-of-care for ES-SCLC is platinum plus etoposide, along with 1 of the immune checkpoint inhibitors atezolizumab or durvalumab. Although SCLC first-line therapy often leads to rapid responses, treatment becomes more challenging at progression, particularly for those with a chemotherapy-free interval (CTFI) of ≤6 months.

To tackle the issue of immunocompatibility, numerous cellular macroencapsulation techniques have been developed that utilize diffusion to transport insulin across an immunoisolating barrier. However, despite several devices progressing to human clinical trials, none have successfully managed to attain physiologic glucose control or insulin independence.

Other groups have proposed genomic LCNEC subtypes, including small cell-like, non-small cell-like, and carcinoid-like subtypes. The primary goal of this study was to better define the NSCLC-like subtype with comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP).

Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effects of low birth weight (LBW) and postnatal restricted nutrition (RN) on cardiac function in neonatal pigs. We hypothesized that LBW and RN would reduce cardiac function in pigs but this effect would be reversed with refeeding.

The body limits the degree to which serum sodium concentration falls through a mechanism called "vasopressin escape". Vasopressin escape is a process that prevents the continuous decrease in serum sodium concentration even under conditions of sustained high plasma vasopressin levels.

Here we describe multifunctional neural interfaces that combine the scalability and mechanical versatility of thermally drawn polymer-based fibers with the sophistication of microelectronic chips for organs as diverse as the brain and the gut. Our approach uses meters-long continuous fibers that can integrate light sources, electrodes, thermal sensors and microfluidic channels in a miniature footprint.

Detection of erythropoietin (Epo) was difficult until a method was developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). WADA recommended the Western blot technique using isoelectric focusing (IEF)-PAGE to show that natural Epo and injected erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) appear in different pH areas. Next, they used sodium N-lauroylsarcosinate (SAR)-PAGE for better differentiation of pegylated proteins, such as epoetin β pegol.
