The film festival “AUSNAHME|ZUSTAND” (State of Emergency)--do feature films and documentaries on mental health reduce stigma and influence help-seeking attitudes?

The study aims at evaluating the impact of the Germany-wide film festival “AUSNAHME|ZUSTAND” on social distance and help-seeking attitudes of the adolescent audience. The festival, on the subject of mental health, was staged for the second time, aiming to give a podium to the topic mental health and to inform and entertain an adolescent audience that has not been in close contact with the subject before. A pre-post test was carried out to look for the effect of feature films and documentaries on social distance of the audience towards people with mental illness and on the change in help-seeking attitudes.

Do 'school coaches' make a difference in school-based mental health promotion? Results from a large focus group study.

Background: Mental disorders in children and adolescents are common and have serious consequences. Schools present a key opportunity to promote mental health and implement prevention measures. Four school coaches in five German schools were enlisted to engage students, teachers and parents in building a sustainably healthy school and classroom climate.

[Mental health promotion in school with school coaches: evaluation of a pilot project].

Methods: At three points in time, students at intervention (N = 292) and control schools (N = 300) were evaluated concerning their social distance towards mentally ill people and their help-seeking behavior in case of crisis. The survey also included teachers (N = 323) and parents (N = 370). Data analysis was done descriptively and with random effects models.

School-based prevention programs for depression and anxiety in adolescence: a systematic review.

School-based interventions are considered a promising effort to prevent the occurrence of mental disorders in adolescents. This systematic review focuses on school-based prevention interventions on depression and anxiety disorders utilizing an RCT design, starting from the year 2000. Based on an online search (PubMed, Scirus, OVID, ISI) and bibliographic findings in the eligible articles, 28 studies providing information were reviewed.

[Info-pocket-guide as a contribution to the prevention of mental illnesses].

Objective: To assess how Info-Pocket-Guides (IPG) are judged as an overall concept, with specific consideration for their content and design in terms of a successful contribution to the prevention of mental illnesses.

Methods: Altogether, eight student focus groups were conducted and differentiated according to sex, age, and educational system.

Results: Mainly, the respondents consider the IPGs as an appealing design, as well as a convenient and well-liked source of information.

Cost-effectiveness of fall prevention programs based on home visits for seniors aged over 65 years: a systematic review.

Background: Preventive home visits (PHVs) are considered a promising intervention to improve health and independent functioning of the elderly whilst reducing health care costs. This systematic review focuses on cost-effectiveness of PHVs, analyzing randomized controlled trials evaluating incremental cost-effectiveness ratios in fall prevention interventions.

Methods: Based on an online search (PubMed) and bibliographic findings in the eligible articles, five studies providing relevant information were reviewed.

Income-, education- and gender-related inequalities in out-of-pocket health-care payments for 65+ patients - a systematic review.

Background: In all OECD countries, there is a trend to increasing patients' copayments in order to balance rising overall health-care costs. This systematic review focuses on inequalities concerning the amount of out-of-pocket payments (OOPP) associated with income, education or gender in the Elderly aged 65+.

Methods: Based on an online search (PubMed), 29 studies providing information on OOPP of 65+ beneficiaries in relation to income, education and gender were reviewed.
