Child and adolescent sexual abuse (CSA) is a critical global health issue, particularly in non-Western low- and middle-income countries like Colombia, where male-on-male CSA is a growing concern.
A study analyzed 680 cases of alleged male-on-male CSA from 2017 to 2018, revealing a high prevalence among young minors, mostly involving known offenders and significant violence.
The study highlights the urgent need for culturally relevant preventive measures, such as training programs for teachers and parents, and emphasizes the necessity for more research to better understand the social and cultural dynamics surrounding CSA in Caribbean Latin America.
