Article Synopsis
  • The study assesses the effectiveness of the hybrid capture 2 (HC2) hrHPV assay compared to traditional cytology for detecting cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or worse (≥ CIN 2) in women with previous cervical abnormalities.
  • Conducted on 359 liquid-based samples, the study found that both tests had a sensitivity of 90.5%, but HC2 showed improved specificity (65.8%) compared to cytology (43.7%).
  • The results suggest that HC2 hrHPV testing enhances detection rates of significant cervical changes and could allow for safer regular screenings in women who have had prior cervical issues without increasing risk.

Thyroid calorigenesis is carried out by activation of cytochrome-c oxidase, as well as by induction of mitochondrial and nuclear genes that code for cell respiratory apparatus components and uncoupling proteins. These effects operate increments in basal metabolic rate and also lead to increased production of oxygen and nitrogen reactive species in liver parenchymal cells. The hepatic antioxidant system is also compromised, since superoxide dismutase and catalase activities, glutathione content and lipid soluble antioxidants are reduced.
