We previously described the biosynthesis, isolation, and immunosuppressive activity of the selenium-containing polysaccharide fraction isolated from the mycelial culture of . Structural studies have shown that the fraction was a protein-containing mixture of high molar mass polysaccharides α- and β-glucans. However, which of the components of the complex fraction is responsible for the immunosuppressive activity non-typical for polysaccharides of fungal origin has not been explained.

Selenium-containing polysaccharides from Lentinula edodes-Biological activity.

We hypothesized that selenium(Se)-enriched polysaccharides would possess superior biological activity when compared to those non-enriched. To verify this hypothesis, we obtained by biotechnological methods a Se-enriched analog of Japanese anticancer drug lentinan and, as a reference, the non-Se-enriched fraction. Selective Cytotoxic Activity of Se-Methyl-Seleno-L-Cysteine- and Se-Polysaccharide-Containing Extracts from Shiitake Medicinal Mushroom, Lentinus edodes (Agaricomycetes).

Multiregional dissemination of KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae ST258/ST512 genotypes in Poland, 2010-14.

Objectives: In 2008-09, the KPC carbapenemase epidemiology in Poland was dominated by a Klebsiella pneumoniae ST258 KPC-2 outbreak in Warsaw and its administrative region. The aim of this study was to analyse the situation in 2010-14, with a focus on new outbreaks in other parts of the country.

Methods: KPCs were detected in all suspected isolates by PCR.
