Recent studies revealed that CD39 was highly expressed in tumor-specific CD4 tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs). However, the divergent function of CD39 T cells remains to be elucidated in colorectal cancer (CRC). In this study, T cells from CRC patients and tumor-bearing mice were isolated to evaluate the function of CD39 in T cells.

Tracking the state of biodiversity over time is critical to successful conservation, but conventional monitoring schemes tend to be insufficient to adequately quantify how species' abundances and distributions are changing. One solution to this issue is to leverage data generated by citizen scientists, who collect vast quantities of data at temporal and spatial scales that cannot be matched by most traditional monitoring methods. However, the quality of citizen science data can vary greatly.

High harmonic generation (HHG) in semiconductors has been extensively studied recently in the high-intensity limit using middle infrared (mid-IR) femtosecond laser pulses resulting in emission spectra of self-phase modulated harmonics resting on top of a broadband continuum. In this report, a different approach to HHG in polycrystalline zinc selenide (poly-ZnSe) was explored utilizing a relatively low power regime (1-40 GW/cm) and much longer (30 ps) mid-IR laser pulses. Through a combination of low power, picosecond excitation, and narrowband (<10 nm full width at half maximum) mid-IR excitation, the nonlinear optical effects in poly-ZnSe could be isolated and studied independently.

Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of respiratory disease in young children. A number of mathematical models have been used to assess the cost-effectiveness of RSV prevention strategies, but these have not been designed for ease of use by multidisciplinary teams working in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Methods: We describe the UNIVAC decision-support model (a proportionate outcomes static cohort model) and its approach to exploring the potential cost-effectiveness of two RSV prevention strategies: a single-dose maternal vaccine and a single-dose long-lasting monoclonal antibody (mAb) for infants.

Introduction: Many patients experience unrelieved neuropathic cancer-related pain. Most current analgesic therapies have psychoactive side effects, lack efficacy data for this indication and have potential medication-related harms. The local anaesthetic lidocaine (lignocaine) has the potential to help manage neuropathic cancer-related pain when administered as an extended, continuous subcutaneous infusion.

This study examined the effects of three distinct interventions-self-efficacy, misperceptions, empathetic listening control-on college students' willingness to help a peer struggling with mental health issues. One hundred fifty college students (81 women, 67 men, 2 nonbinary) were randomly assigned to one of three intervention conditions. All three interventions contained information about the prevalence of mental health concerns among college students, symptoms of common mental health disorders, and exercises to increase participant engagement with the intervention content.

Co-occurring psychiatric conditions are very common in tic disorders and Tourette syndrome. These additional symptoms are often detrimental to quality of life and may impact upon the implementation and efficacy of evidence-based behavioural therapies (BT) for tics. Combining a review of the available literature, relevant theory, and expert clinical practice, we present a guideline for implementing behavioural and psychosocial interventions when common comorbidities are present.

Background: Children and young people with long-term physical health conditions (LTC) are known to have higher levels of co-morbid mental health problems than medically healthy children. Evidence-based treatments for mental health problems are effective in children who also have an LTC. This study aimed to explore the factors associated with participants' perceived acceptability and impact of a transdiagnostic mental health centre offering brief psychological assessment and treatment for children and young people and/or their families with mental health needs in the context of long term physical conditions.

The potential benefits (veridical memory) and, importantly, costs (false memory) of acute exercise on memory in conjunction with the timing and type of exercise have not been fully studied. In Experiment 1, we employed a three-condition (15-minute vigorous-intensity acute exercise Before or During memory encoding, or a Control condition of watching a video), within-subjects, counterbalanced design. The procedures included an immediate and delayed (20-minute post encoding) free recall assessment.

Viral metagenomics (viromics) has reshaped our understanding of DNA viral diversity, ecology, and evolution across Earth's ecosystems. However, viromics now needs approaches to link newly discovered viruses to their host cells and characterize them at scale. This study adapts one such method, sequencing-enabled viral tagging (VT), to establish "Viral Tag and Grow" (VT + Grow) to rapidly capture and characterize viruses that infect a cultivated target bacterium, Pseudoalteromonas.

Bigelovin, a sesquiterpene lactone extracted from plant Inula helianthus aquatica, exhibited multiple interesting biological activities, including anti-inflammation, antiangiogenesis and cytotoxic action against cancer cells. In the present study, we found that Bigelovin reduced the viability of human colon cancer cells and induced their apoptosis in a time- and dose-dependent manner, with an IC50-5 μM. RNAseq and luciferase reporter analyses revealed that the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling was one of the most significantly inhibited pathways after Bigelovin treatment.
