The NanoString platform is suitable for transcriptome profiling in low yield RNA samples. As a matter of fact, this makes having a high clinical suspicion with only the endoscopic technique, quite difficult. Due to this reason, we believe that either taking random biopsies or biopsies from visible lesions of affected sections in another imaging tests, should be indicated in order to increase the diagnostic capacity of the endoscopic technique.

Methods: We performed a multicenter, randomized, noninferiority trial to compare prophylaxis with ciprofloxacin vs placebo in patients with a pancreatic cyst requiring EUS-FNA at multiple centers in Spain.

Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent a EUS for preoperative staging of a pancreatic adenocarcinoma between 1998 and 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. The diagnosis of PC was confirmed by histopathology or peritoneal fluid cytology.
