Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone cancer, accounting for approximately 5 % of new cancer cases globally. In contrast, breast cancer remains the most prevalent malignancy and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women. Given the limitations of current therapies, novel treatment strategies are urgently needed.

Association Between Venous Mesenteric Thrombosis and Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 Mutation.

Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is central to fibrinolysis regulation, and genetic variants such as the 4G/4G genotype predispose individuals to hypercoagulability. This case highlights a 46-year-old female patient presenting with acute mesenteric venous thrombosis, where genetic evaluation revealed homozygosity for the PAI-1 4G/4G polymorphism. Management with unfractionated heparin followed by a transition to direct oral anticoagulants led to clinical resolution.

Understanding the current state of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the crisis line sector is essential to enhancing accessibility and acceptability of crisis line services for all. Through an intersectional lens, we examined 9-8-8 crisis line workers' personal and work demographics, training, resources, perceived competencies in supporting diverse populations. We conducted an electronic survey of crisis line responders and leadership in Canada.

Changes in Cannabis Use Patterns in Psychiatric Populations Pre- and Post-Legalization of Recreational Cannabis Use in Canada: A Repeated Cross-Sectional Survey.

Objective: Since the federal Canadian government legalized cannabis in 2018, cannabis use in the general population has slightly increased. However, little is known about the impact of cannabis legalization on pattens of cannabis use in psychiatric populations.

Method: We studied changes in daily/almost daily and average 30-day cannabis use amongst individuals currently using cannabis who reported past 12-month experiences of specific mental health disorders and among those without past 12-month experiences of any mental health disorder before and after Canadian legalization of recreational cannabis use ( = 13,527).

Background: The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic precipitated a rapid shift to virtual care in health care settings, inclusive of mental health care. Understanding clients' perspectives on virtual mental health care quality will be critical to informing future policies and practices.

Objective: This study aimed to outline the process of redesigning and validating the Virtual Client Experience Survey (VCES), which can be used to evaluate client and family experiences of virtual care, specifically virtual mental health and addiction care.

Cryopreservation of ovarian cortex as fertility preservation in transgender men: A case report and literature review.

Transgender people have been experiencing significant advancements in their social visibility, although they continue to face frequent discrimination and exclusion. Among the issues encompassing transgender individuals' health care, the right to reproductive and sexual health have gained traction in the study landscape, necessitating an exploration of fertility preservation options for these patients. This report sheds light on the process of cryopreserving gametes and ovarian tissue after total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for gender reassignment in a transgender man in hormonal masculinization.

Stigma Toward Bipolar Disorder Among Psychiatry Residents: A Pilot Study Utilizing Narrative Medicine and a Video Vignette.

Objective: Stigma toward mental illness has been extensively described among health care professionals and has important implications with respect to quality of care. Narrative medicine has the potential to bring about positive impacts on the practitioner-patient relationship and on patient outcomes. The authors carried out a pilot study investigating the impact of narrative medicine on residents' stigma toward bipolar disorder.

Validation of the Mental Illness: Clinicians' Attitudes Scale: The Factor Structure and Psychometric Properties of the Brazilian Version.

Background/objectives: In the literature, few instruments have been identified to measure the stigma of health professionals toward people with mental illness. In Brazil, until 2021, the literature did not indicate the validation of an instrument or the construction of an instrument for this purpose. Considering this gap, this study aimed to validate and estimate the reliability of the Mental Illness: Clinicians' Attitudes Scale, version 4 (MICA-4) for the Brazilian context, examining the psychometric properties through the analysis of its internal consistency and factor structure.

In this study, we investigated the anti-tumor effects of a pro-oxidant naphthoquinone derivative called bromo-naphthoquinone (BrNQ) isolated and combined with the antioxidant tannic acid (TA) in order to improve treatment.

Background And Objectives: With the rise in cannabis use over the last couple of decades and shifting social views around drug use, the characterization of potential predictors for the development of cannabis use disorder (CUD) may be of high relevance for the implementation of preventive measures toward this condition. We conducted a study with the aim of analyzing possible associations between personality traits and CUD.

Externalizing psychopathology in childhood is a predictor of poor outcomes across the lifespan. Children exhibiting elevated externalizing symptoms also commonly show emotion dysregulation and callous-unemotional (CU) traits. Exploring the effects of vanillin and divanillin on murine osteosarcoma cells: evaluation of cellular response and proteomic analysis.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the antitumor properties of vanillin and divanillin in murine bone tumour cells. The action of the compounds on the cell viability of the normal (MC3T3-E1) and the tumour cell line (UMR-106) was evaluated. Action of the compounds in colony formation, migration, and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in tumour cells were evaluated along with proteomic analysis.

Maize (Zea mays) has been a major staple crop and model for genetic research for more than 100 yr. Evaluation of the efficacy of labor induction with vaginal misoprostol in a low-risk pregnant women population.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the success rate and predictors of labor induction using vaginal misoprostol in a low-risk pregnant women population.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was carried out with 196 pregnant women. Groups 2 and 4 of the Robson Classification admitted for induction of labor with vaginal misoprostol (25 μg tablets every 6 h, up to 4 tablets, for a maximum of 24 h).

Background: Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) has emerged as a therapeutic option for surgical myectomy and alcohol septal ablation (ASA) in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), but its efficacy remains unclear.

Aim: Due to limited research on RFCA for HCM, there is an ongoing attempt to assess its efficacy and safety.

Objective: Few studies investigated the influence of oral parafunctional habits during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since some studies have demonstrated that signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorder (TMD), as well as psychological alterations, increased during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the aim of this study was to investigate whether social isolation is a situation that increases the prevalence of oral parafunctional habits.

Methods: This was an observational case-control study.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is an opportunistic infection caused by a fungus of the Candida genus, affecting approximately 75 % of women during their lifetime. Effect of dorsolateral prefrontal cortex structural measures on neuroplasticity and response to paired-associative stimulation in Alzheimer's dementia.

Long-term potentiation (LTP)-like activity can be induced by stimulation protocols such as paired associative stimulation (PAS). We aimed to determine whether PAS-induced LTP-like activity (PAS-LTP) of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) is associated with cortical thickness and other structural measures impaired in Alzheimer's dementia (AD). We also explored longitudinal relationships between these brain structures and PAS-LTP response after a repetitive PAS (rPAS) intervention.

Genetic and polygenic investigation of heart rate variability to identify biomarkers associated with Anxiety disorders.

Given that anxiety disorders (AD) are associated with reduced vagally-mediated heart rate variability (HRV), genetic variants related to HRV may provide insight into anxiety etiology. This study used polygenic risk scores (PRS) to explore the genetic overlap between AD and HRV, and investigated whether HRV-related polymorphisms influence anxiety risk. Resting vagally-mediated HRV was measured using a wearable device in 188 European individuals (AD=101, healthy controls=87).
