Background: The inner layer of the synovial joints is the primary target of rheumatoid arthritis, or RA, a chronic systemic inflammatory disorder that is linked to increasing disability, early mortality, and economic hardships. The objective is to determine the association of red cell distribution width (RDW) and mean platelet volume (MPV) with disease activity in RA.

Material And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted between July 2021 and January 2022 in the outpatient rheumatology clinics at Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital.

Undiagnosed Depression and Its Effects on Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Introduction Different organs and organ systems are affected by a well-known chronic immune disorder called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Besides the physical harm caused by this disorder, it affects the mental health of patients in a greater ratio by causing depression and anxiety. The objective of this study is to assess the prevalence of undiagnosed depression and its effects on patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Challenges in Preanalytical Phase of Laboratory Medicine: Rate of Blood Sample Nonconformity in a Tertiary Care Hospital.

Objective: To evaluate the major causes of preanalytical errors in medical laboratory of a tertiary care hospital.

Methods: It was a retrospective study in which we analyzed the sample rejection data of hematology and chemical pathology sections from January to December 2018. Number of rejected samples, reason for rejection and type of test ordered on monthly basis were recorded on a platform.

Familial Clustering of Antiphospholipid Syndrome.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterised by thrombosis (venous or arterial) and/or pregnancy-related complications. There is very scanty literature available regarding familial occurrence of APS worldwide and to the best of our knowledge, this important aspect has never been previously reported from Pakistan. We are presenting three patients of a Pakistani family who presented with thrombotic and pregnancy-related complications.
