Background: Transglutaminase (TGase) is a heat-resistant biocatalyst with strong catalytic activity, which functions effectively under moderate temperature and pH conditions, and is used widely in protein cross-linking and recombination. Transglutaminase cross-linking is a novel and specific modification method for black bean protein isolate (BBPI). This article investigates the effect of transglutaminase cross-linking on the structure and emulsification performance of heated BBPI.

The problem is that the functional properties of soy proteins do not meet the needs of the food industry, and some existing modification technologies have adverse effects. Chlorine-based compounds have been used as a disinfectant in drinking water treatment plants for decades because of their excellent sterilisation efficiency and low cost. However, the formation of disinfection by-products during chlorination is a cause for concern. Peracetic acid (PAA) is a strong oxidant with a redox potential higher than that of chlorine and does not form harmful disinfection by-products.

Surveillance of influenza A virus subtype H5N1 in a live bird market in Yangon, Myanmar: 2017-2018.

A survey of influenza A viruses (IAVs) in the Mingalar Taung Nyunt live bird market (MTN-LBM), Yangon, Myanmar, was conducted from December 2017 to December 2018. During the survey, 455 swab samples were collected from broilers, layers, backyard chickens and ducks from the MTN-LBM. Ninety-one pooled samples were screened for IAVs by real-time RT-PCR specific to the M gene.

Swine influenza virus (SIV) causes respiratory diseases in pigs and has impacts on both animal and human health. In this study, we conducted swine influenza surveillance in pig farms in the Yangon and Bago regions, Myanmar, during 2017-2019. Nasal swabs (n = 500) were collected from pigs in 10 swine farms.

Clinical Characteristics of Pediatric Optic Neuritis With Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Seropositive: A Cohort Study.

Background: The clinical characteristics of patients with pediatric optic neuritis with seropositive myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibodies in Asia have not been reported.

Methods: Patients ≤18 years-old with acute-onset optic neuritis were enrolled. Serum myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein and aquaporin-4 antibodies were detected and patients were followed for at least six months.

The effects and possible mechanism of βAR gene expression in cardiocytes of canines with heart failure.

The objective of the present study was to observe the changes of β-adrenergic receptor (βAR) protein expression in a canine model of heart failure (HF), and the function of cardiocytes after transfection with Adv-βAR. The canine model of chronic HF was induced by rapid right ventricular pacing and cardiocytes were isolated with collagenase II. Cardiocytes were transfected with Adv-βAR to observe contractile function with a motion edge-detection system of single cells.

Methods: Nine renal cell carcinomas were resected and these surgical operations were carried out from June 2007 to September 2008 in the Urology Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. The cancer tissues and para-cancer normal tissues were preserved in liquid nitrogen.

The objective was to estimate the prevalence of intestinal protozoa among the aborigines and to determine the problems regarding the infection. The study was carried out in January 2006 in Pos Senderut, Pahang, Malaysia. Samples of faeces were collected from children and adults and these were fixed in PVA and trichrome staining was carried out.

Analysis of film response to electron beams using a laser scanner system developed in the laboratory.

An optical scanner system, which incorporates a He-Ne laser, photodiode detectors, and a platform for placing film, was built in the laboratory. The laser system operates at the green wavelength of 543.5 nm and functions as a scanning densitometer for measurement of optical changes in a film resulting from irradiation .

Film-forming polymer-granulated excipients as the matrix materials for controlled release dosage forms.

Lactose and dibasic calcium phosphate (DCP) were granulated with various concentrations of film-forming polymers by a stepwise spraying method to prepare a directly compressible matrix excipient. The film-forming polymeric latex of Eudragit RS-30D, Eudragit RL-30D, and Surelease (ethylcellulose) were used in this study as the source of the granulating materials. Better flowability and compressibility were observed for all the granulated particles than the polymer-free granules.
