The TASK-1 channel belongs to the two-pore domain potassium channel family. It is expressed in several cells of the heart, including the right atrial (RA) cardiomyocytes and the sinus node, and TASK-1 channel has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atrial arrhythmias (AA). Thus, using the rat model of monocrotaline-induced pulmonary hypertension (MCT-PH), we explored the involvement of TASK-1 in AA.

β-Cyfluthrin, a class II Pyrethroid, is an insecticide used worldwide in agriculture, horticulture (field and protected crops), viticulture, and domestic applications. β-Cyfluthrin may impair the function of biological systems; however, little information is available about its potential cardiotoxic effect. Here we determine the effects of AMIO in the electromechanical properties of isolated left ventricle myocyte (LVM) from mice and guinea pig and in a cellular model of Long QT Syndrome Type 3 (LQTS-3) using anemone neurotoxin 2 (ATX II), which induces increase of late sodium current in LVM.
Main Methods And Key Findings: Using patch-clamp technique, fluorescence imaging to detect cellular Ca transient and sarcomere detection systems we evaluate the effect of AMIO in healthy LVM.

Pythons are important models of studies on postprandial metabolism because their physiological responses are exacerbated when digesting large prey. Prior studies of these animals have shown hypertrophy of the cardiac tissue 2 to 3 days after feeding, coinciding with the peak of the specific dynamic action (SDA), but the consequences of this remodeling in myocardial contractility have not been studied, which is the purpose of this work. Specimens of Python molurus were divided into two groups: a Digesting group (2 days after feeding, at the peak of SDA), and a Fasting group (28 days after feeding).
