Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have moved to the frontline in recent years to manage upper gastrointestinal (UGI) tumors, such as esophageal and gastric cancers. This retrospective review sheds light on real-world data on ICI-treated UGI tumors to identify risk factors (clinical and pathological) impacting the outcome other than traditional biomarkers (programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) or microsatellite instability status).

Methods: Patients with UGI tumors who received at least one dose of ICI for stage IV or recurrent disease between January 1, 2015, and July 31, 2021, at The Ohio State University were included in the study.

Careers and Quality of Life: Comparing Perceptions of Compound and Noncompound Caregivers.

Study objectives were to compare differences in quality of life (QOL) and family quality of life (FQOL) between compound and noncompound caregivers and describe how career-related dimensions influence the global FQOL. Examination of survey data from 77 compound and 113 noncompound caregivers indicated that compound caregivers had lower QOL, global FQOL, and worse career outcomes than noncompound caregivers. Global FQOL was associated with greater career satisfaction, higher income, and noncompound caregiver type.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia in India.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, our findings highlight changes in AML management strategies in India. There was a decrease in overall patient registrations, particularly at large referral centers, while smaller centers saw an increase, reflecting a shift towards more localized care. This shift was accompanied by a rise in the use of hypomethylating agents (HMAs).

Tracing ocular biometry and their heritability in twins in a hospital-based cohort in South India.

Purpose: Twin studies, in the background of lack of twin registry in India, are a challenge. We report the response rates in tracing a hospital birth register-based cohort of twins using mail and door to door survey, ocular parameters influencing refractive errors, and their heritability.

Methods: Twins born from 1991 to 1995 in a tertiary hospital in the Vellore District of South India from a database were traced by mail and home survey from March 2011 to September 2013.

Understanding factors that can improve the quality of life (QOL) of older caregivers of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is important in broadening participation in family empowerment interventions. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the QOL of older caregivers (50+) of adults with IDD who participated in a peer-mediated state-wide family support project. Background: Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY) is a direct benefit transfer scheme of the Government of India introduced in 2018 to support the additional nutritional requirements of persons with TB (PwTB). Our recent nationwide evaluation of implementation and utilization of NPY using programmatic data of PwTB from nine randomly selected Indian states, reported a 70% coverage and high median delay in benefit credit. An unusual case of Brodie's abscess in the humerus of an adult female.

Brodie's abscess is a manifestation of subacute to chronic osteomyelitis, characterized as intraosseous abscess formation, usually on the metaphysis of the long tubular bones in the lower extremities of male pediatric patients. Clinically, Brodie's abscess presents with atraumatic bone pain of an insidious onset, with absence of systemic findings. Delay in diagnosis is common, as diagnostic imaging, followed by biopsy for culture and histologic examination are generally required to secure a diagnosis of Brodie's abscess.

Electronic Version of the Family Quality of Life Survey (eFQOLS): Reliability and Validity for Families of Individuals With Disabilities and Chronic Health Conditions.

This study tested the psychometric properties of an electronic Family Quality of Life Survey (eFQOLS) when used with families of individuals with disabilities and/or chronic health conditions. Data gathered from 272 family caregivers using the eFQOLS were subjected to reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis to test the internal consistency of the scales, as well as criterion and construct validity of the internal structure of the scale. Testing factor structures of the item-level domain models indicated that initiative and stability had low factor loadings in many domains.
