Purpose: Healthcare costs have dramatically increased, resulting in barriers to care for many Americans. To address this, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services implemented a price transparency mandate, requiring hospitals to provide cost-estimate tools. This study evaluates the accessibility and usability of these tools for common otolaryngology outpatient procedures.

Review article: Otalgia as presenting symptom of myocardial infarction.

Objective: There are many etiologies for otalgia, most of which are benign conditions. However, it can also be the initial symptom for life threatening emergencies such as a myocardial infarction (MI). This case report and review of literature describes diagnosis of MI with the initial primary complaint of unilateral otalgia.

Acute Effect of Night Shift Work on Endothelial Function with and without Naps: A Scoping Review.

We examined the breadth and depth of the current evidence investigating napping/sleeping during night shift work and its impact on non-invasive measures of endothelial function. We used a scoping review study design and searched five databases: Ovid Medline, EMBASE, Ovid APA PsycInfo, Web of Science Core Collection, and EBSCO CINAHL. We limited our search to English language and publications from January 1980 to September 2022.

The impact of race and gender on the outcomes of patients with acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure: propensity score-matched analysis of the NIS database.

Background: Acetaminophen overdose is one of the leading causes of acute liver failure in the USA. In this study, we investigated the impact of race and gender on the hospital outcomes of patients admitted with acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure.

Methods: From the National Inpatient Sample between the years 2016 and 2019, patients with acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure were selected and stratified based on gender (Male and Female) and race (White, Black and Hispanic).
