Age-adjusted charlson comorbidity index and 30-day morbidity in pelvic surgeries.

Introduction: Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) is a validated tool enabling clinicians for prediction of adverse events posttherapy. In this study, we planned to estimate the predictive value of age-adjusted CCI (ACCI) in assessing the perioperative complication in oncological patients undergoing major pelvic surgeries.

Methods: This was a single arm, prospective, observational study, in which adult patients with pelvic malignancies undergoing pelvic surgeries were selected.

Validation of Malayalam Version of National Comprehensive Cancer Network Distress Thermometer and its Feasibility in Oncology Patients.

Context: This study was designed to translate and validate the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) distress thermometer (DT) in regional language " Malayalam" and to see the feasibility of using it in our patients.

Aims: (1) To translate and validate the NCCN DT. (2) To study the feasibility of using validated Malayalam translated DT in Malabar Cancer center.

Survey of the State of Implementation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology/Oncology Nursing Society Safety Standards for Chemotherapy Administration in India.

Purpose: The American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Oncology Nursing Society have proposed a set of standards for safe chemotherapy administration. The state of implementation of these standards in oncologic practices in India is not understood properly.

Methods: An anonymized survey was designed that consisted of items from all 37 standards that were described in the 2013 update of the standards.

Pelvic exenteration: experience from a rural cancer center in developing world.

Background: Pelvic exenteration (PE) is a morbid procedure. Ours is a rural based cancer center limited trained surgical oncology staff. Hence, this audit was planned to evaluate morbidity and outcomes of all patients undergoing PE at our center.

How well do elderly patients with cervical cancer tolerate definitive radiochemotherapy using RapidArc? Results from an institutional audit comparing elderly versus younger patients.

Purpose: Elderly patients (65 or older) with cervical cancer often receive suboptimal radio-chemotherapy. Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) may improve tolerance to treatment in this setting. This study was designed to compare the treatment-related toxicities and compliance with treatment in patients of cervical cancer treated definitively with RapidArc IMRT in our institute.
