Desmoid tumors or aggressive fibromatosis are locally aggressive benign tumors. These arise anywhere in the body but are commonly seen in the anterior abdominal wall. The main treatment choices are continuous surveillance, adjuvant chemotherapy, surgery, and postoperative chemotherapy.

Despite advancements, complications such as chronic postoperative pain, infections, and hernia recurrence persist. Traditional sutured polypropylene mesh can cause nerve irritation and inflammation, leading to chronic pain and other issues.

For this reason, there is a need for innovative analytical methods that allow its monitoring in biological matrices. In this work, we propose a novel methodology to screen eight SCs (AM-694, cumyl-5F-PINACA, MAM-2201, 5F-UR-144, JWH-018, JWH-122, UR-144 and APINACA) in oral fluids.

Results: Eighty STEMI patients successfully treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) underwent baseline (within 48 h) 2D, 3D echocardiography with speckle tracking and then underwent cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) at 3 months to assess the final IS.
Background: In patients presenting with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), the prevalence of having concomitant severe non-culprit lesion(s) is ≥40%. While timely primary PCI (pPCI) for the culprit lesion is the standard practice, management of the non-culprit lesions remains unsettled.
Results: This prospective multi-center observational study recruited 492 acute STEMI patients who underwent successful pPCI for the culprit lesion.
Background: Heart failure (HF) poses a major health problem, where frequent HF rehospitalizations (HFH) heavily burden national health systems. HFH are predominantly linked to inadequate decongestion before discharge. It is uncertain if systematic implementation of cardio-pulmonary ultra-sound imaging (CPUSI) to standard HF management can improve outcomes and reduce HFH.

During the peak of the pandemic, several unrelated-yet critical-conditions had silently taken their toll. Infective endocarditis (IE), owing to its non-specific clinical presentation, may have been largely mislabeled as COVID-19 in a number of cases.

Background: Self-apposing (SA) stents may decrease incomplete strut apposition and stent strut coverage that are common after CTO PCI.
Methods: We compared 20 patients who underwent CTO PCI using SA drug-eluting stents (DESs) with 20 matched control patients who underwent CTO PCI using balloon-expandable (BE)-DESs.
Coronary heavy calcification (HC) poses a sturdy challenge to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Scores considering calcification length, thickness, or circumferential extent, are widely accepted to dictate upfront calcium modification to improve PCI outcomes. Although often marginalized, calcification shape (morphology) may require consideration during procedure planning in selected cases.

We examined the clinical and angiographic characteristics and procedural outcomes of 1,079 consecutive CTO PCIs performed in 1,063 patients at 10 centers in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, and Asia regions between 2018 and 2022. The mean age was 61 ± 10 years and 82% of the patients were men.

Telmisartan is a RAASi characteristic for a favorable renal profile, although data on its utility in HFrEF is limited. This study aimed to compare efficacy and tolerability of Telmisartan versus Enalapril in patients with HFrEF and CKD.

This identification relies on the visual comparison of such elements against reference samples from suspect firearms or those existing in databases. Whenever this approach is not possible, the chemical analysis of the gunpowder and gunshot residue can provide additional information that may assist in establishing a link between samples retrieved at a crime scene and those from a suspect or in the identification of the corresponding model and manufacturer of the ammunition used.

This is particularly relevant for the forensic, medical or recreative industry to have a rapid, inexpensive, and reliable methodology to identify and quantify phytocannabinoids. Furthermore, spiking cannabis products with Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a contemporary trend that demands improving or replacing current methods to include this cannabinoid.

The present work aims to develop and optimise a methodology, based on the evaporation of 2-phenoxyethanol (PE) over time, that can contribute to ink age estimation. A black BIC Crystal Ballpoint Pen was purchased in a commercial area, and ink deposition began in September 2016 over 1095 days.

Routine calculation of Mehran's score is limited by its complexity and difficulty to memorize. This study evaluated CHADS-VASc score predictive utility for CIN in STEMI patients before pPCI.

ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and its consequences can be devastating particularly at younger age for a bigger impact on the patient's psychology and ability to work. Little is known about the differential features and outcomes of young STEMI patients in Egypt.

Currently, there is little published qualitative research that provides insight into the disease-related symptoms and impacts that are relevant to patients living with SCLC as directly reported by patients themselves.
Methods: This qualitative, cross-sectional, noninterventional, descriptive study included concept elicitation interviews with participants diagnosed with SCLC and the development of a conceptual model of clinical treatment benefit.
Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) in patients with type 2 diabetes reduces the risk of serious heart failure events, specifically the risk of hospitalization for heart failure, and cardiovascular death. The benefit is most apparent in patients with a heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Dapagliflozin and empagliflozin reduced the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalizations for heart failure in patients with established HFrEF, including those without diabetes.

To achieve this goal, we employed, for the first time, new generation microextraction devices coated with convenient sorbent phases, polymers and novel activated carbons prepared from biomaterial waste, in combination with large-volume-injection gas chromatography-mass spectrometry operating in selected-ion monitoring mode (LVI-GC-MS(SIM)). Preliminary assays on sorbent coatings, showed that the polymeric phases present a much more effective performance, as the tested biosorbents exhibited low efficiency for application in microextraction techniques.
