Adolescent pregnancy has important health and social implications. Despite the availability of nationally representative household survey data, there are limited studies that analyze factors associated with adolescent pregnancy across countries of South Asia. This study aimed to identify factors associated with adolescent pregnancy across South Asia.

Overdose of acetaminophen (APAP) is the major cause of acute liver failure (ALF) in the Western world with very limited treatment options. Previous studies from our groups and others have shown that timely activation of liver regeneration is a critical determinant of transplant-free survival of APAP-induced ALF patients. Here, we report that hepatocyte-specific deletion of Yes-associated protein (Yap), the downstream mediator of the Hippo Kinase signaling pathway results in faster recovery from APAP-induced acute liver injury.

Background: Despite having the high rate of stillbirth in most of the countries of South Asia, there is a lack of synthesized evidence based on factors associated with stillbirth. This study systematically synthesizes the evidence on factors associated with stillbirth in the four selected countries of South Asia.

Methods: This review was conducted using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

Introduction: Adolescent pregnancy is a significant cost to mother, newborn, and their family and society. Despite the enormous health and social impact of adolescent pregnancy, there is a dearth of nationally representative studies on factors associated with adolescent pregnancies in Nepal. Therefore, this study aimed to examine trends and factors associated with adolescent pregnancies in Nepal, using pooled data of three nationally representative demographic surveys.

Article Synopsis
  • Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose is the primary cause of acute liver failure (ALF) in the U.S., highlighting the importance of liver regeneration for recovery.
  • Research indicates that activating β-catenin signaling is crucial for effective hepatic recovery after APAP-induced liver damage.
  • Inhibiting glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) promotes early liver regeneration by stimulating cell cycle progression and β-catenin activation, suggesting GSK3 could be a new target for therapeutic strategies in managing APAP-related liver failure.
